Since 1994 Tom and Liz Jackson have been running their own practices and testing eyes in Derby. After initially setting up their Oakwood branch they chose to open Alvaston Opticians in 2007, and Kimberley Opticians in 2011. In 2023, their friend and business partner, DrFarra Hargreaves, joined the practice. Dr Hargreaves brought with her over 20 years of experience in community and hospital work, glaucoma and emergency care, and directorship at the NHS. At the end of 2025, after 31 years of dedicated service, the Jacksons decided to wind down and passed ownership to Farra, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter built on the heritage of world-class patient care for which Alvaston Opticians is known.
