Mr Hot Dog

Mr Hot Dog is a York-based mobile catering business that also offers its food truck for dry hire across the United Kingdom. Under this arrangement, which is also known as empty food truck hire, the food truck is supplied without the company's own menu and is instead rebranded for the client, who uses it as a promotional platform to showcase their own product or brand. Commonly used at events such as product launches, brand activations, press previews and trade shows. It is also hired as a prop or backdrop for television productions and photoshoots.

The service is aimed at PR and marketing agencies, event companies, and food & drink brands. It is not offered to street food traders for commercial food sales.

The branding options consist of an illuminated header sign, a vinyl panel on the lower front of the truck and an optional 3.5-metre quill flag. Clients supply artwork to the company's templates, which can be downloaded from its website. Printing and fitting of the graphics are arranged before delivery. The truck is fitted with a gas griddle, a fridge-freezer and a double sink with hot and cold water. Its compact size allows it to be positioned in restricted spaces, including indoor venues. A member of staff normally remains on site during the dry hire period, and can cook, serve and operate the food truck if required. The business is run by David Cliff, a former agency-side marketer with a background in branding and PR.

Hire starts at £1,000 per day, with most branded projects costing upwards of £2,500 including signage and delivery. Past projects include work for Waitrose & Partners, Vuori, Care UK, Visit California, Radio Times and the BBC children's drama The Dumping Ground.
