I enjoy being a member of the NCC, everyone is very friendly and there is a lovely atmosphere at rehearsals. Meg our choir leader is a excellent teacher and always puts her heart and soul into every lesson. We sing a wide range of songs from the light hearted to the more ambitious, which keeps it interesting and fresh. I feel lucky to be a part of something special.

Last year before moving back to the UK I checked out various local Choirs on Zoom. Immediately I tried out this Choir on Zoom I was made to feel welcome. I also found on You Tube lots of videos so I could see the high standard of singing and the interesting repertoire. Watch Flash Mob ! Despite Covid we have kept singing and learning via Zoom .The Choir Mistress Meg believes we should be a community rather than just a Choir. That has proved so true and so valuable during lock down where in addition to Zoom learning , we have had quiz nights, a New years Eve Party and Saturday evenings when we all chose a You Tube clip to watch on Zoom.

I'd not sung (except in the car on my own) for years when I joined this choir, but its been lovely to rediscover the power of making a lovely sound with other people and how relaxed I feel after choir. The choir is full of friendly people, who make new members feel welcome and we all help each other out, so there's a lovely atmosphere at choir practice. I tend to only go to 1 practice a week, but I like the fact that we have 3 groups, as we have the flexibility to swap to another day if you can't make it one week. We've spent much of the last 12 months meeting online on Zoom - I can't wait until we're back singing together in person.

If you love singing a wide variety of songs with a lovely friendly group of people then why not join Norwich Community Choir. We joined ten years ago and have a great time. Fun rehearsals, uplifting concerts, parties like no other and exciting days out. And Meg keeps us all in order, mostly.

Business information

Norwich Community Choir was formed in 2008 by Meg Turpin. The choir has become very popular and made constant improvement under her leadership. With no auditions and mostly non-music reading members, they are living proof that we all have music inside us.

Meg has been a professional musician and teacher for 30 years. She has a relaxed style of teaching and knows that it is the mistakes and imperfections that engender warmth and affection between us. Under her coaching your confidence grows and your skills improve.

Meg believes that singing together is simply the best, most powerful way to make lasting friendships and build community. Singing is an ancient tried and tested activity that brings us out of our heads and into our hearts. Akin to mindfulness it keeps us in the present moment allowing life’s troubles to slip away.

Scientific research shows that singing produces many health benefits including lower blood pressure, improved immunity and increased happiness.

This choir just loves singing and for those that want it, there is a rich social life that includes not only extra singing, but also, walking, poetry, story-telling and much more.

Norwich Community Choir welcomes new members. When you join the choir we know there is a lot to learn and it can be daunting but don’t worry, you will get lots of support from Meg and other choir members until you feel confident.

I’m so glad that I made the decision to join last year, such an inclusive and friendly bunch of people, singing lifts you. Meg, our leader has gone to great lengths to keep us going through lockdown, she is truly dedicated and extremely talented and her enthusiasm is contagious.

A great way to make friends and feel connected with the community. Rehearsals are always enjoyable. Learning new songs helps my brain to keep going and each concert feels like a real achievement.

I found the choir to be a very friendly Group of people
All the songs are easy to learn the leader is a very good teacher
You don't have to be able to read music.
Also there is a very friendy and active social events side to the choir
With three sessions aweek to choose from to attend one or all three I find it good value for the monthly subscription.
