Norwich Community Choir

Norwich Community Choir was formed in 2008 by Meg Turpin. The choir has become very popular and made constant improvement under her leadership. With no auditions and mostly non-music reading members, they are living proof that we all have music inside us.
Meg has been a professional musician and teacher for 30 years. She has a relaxed style of teaching and knows that it is the mistakes and imperfections that engender warmth and affection between us. Under her coaching your confidence grows and your skills improve.
Meg believes that singing together is simply the best, most powerful way to make lasting friendships and build community. Singing is an ancient tried and tested activity that brings us out of our heads and into our hearts. Akin to mindfulness it keeps us in the present moment allowing life’s troubles to slip away.
Scientific research shows that singing produces many health benefits including lower blood pressure, improved immunity and increased happiness.
This choir just loves singing and for those that want it, there is a rich social life that includes not only extra singing, but also, walking, poetry, story-telling and much more.
Norwich Community Choir welcomes new members. When you join the choir we know there is a lot to learn and it can be daunting but don’t worry, you will get lots of support from Meg and other choir members until you feel confident.

I feel lucky to be a part of something special.

The choir is full of friendly people, who make new members feel welcome and we all help each other out, so there's a lovely atmosphere at choir practice. I tend to only go to 1 practice a week, but I like the fact that we have 3 groups, as we have the flexibility to swap to another day if you can't make it one week.
We've spent much of the last 12 months meeting online on Zoom - I can't wait until we're back singing together in person.

All the songs are easy to learn the leader is a very good teacher
You don't have to be able to read music.
Also there is a very friendy and active social events side to the choir
With three sessions aweek to choose from to attend one or all three I find it good value for the monthly subscription.
