Lee recently carried out a level 3 survey, and his help has been invaluable. I've been impressed by the quality and rigour of his work (easily laid out in a 95 page report), and would definitely use his services again.

As a first time buyer, the call to talk through the report and any other questions was particularly useful. Lee took the time to walk through what he would/wouldn't immediately worry about, what temporary fixes might be available, the expected time and cost of making the fixes good, and also what I may be able to do myself. We were purchasing a 1980s build house as a downsize and had Lee perform a level 3 survey for us. We were somewhat suspicious about why a previous buyer walked away so wanted a proper job done. And Lee really delivered. I come from a family who work in construction and although I do not do this myself am pretty knowledgable in some areas. I thought the over 80 page report was clear (it had one small minor mistake but none of us are perfect!) and it very much helped our decision to proceed and also helped us negiotiate the price down a few thousand. Lee carried out a Level 2 survey for us on a 4 bedroom house in Stoke Gifford and I couldn't be happier! He listened to our requests (we had some things we'd identified ahead of time we wanted checked) and produced a really helpful report which identified risks and further recommendations clearly - everything was written in clear, easy to understand English (no jargon!) and he obviously takes pride in what he does.

As a result of this survey we had more investigations and eventually pulled out of the purchase. Lee and Domestic Surveys have saved us a considerable amount of money (and time) and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them in the future. We will be using them again once we've found another house.

We were in the process of purchasing a three bed 60's property in Bristol and needed a survey to be completed.

After searching the local area for surveyors, we came across South West Surveyors who had some great reviews.

We made contact and were pleasantly surprised with the professionalism and knowledge of this company. They explained the different types of surveys available and what would be most suitable for this type of property, before allowing us to decide. We went for a Homebuyers Report.

Booking was seamless and they were able to liaise directly with the agent to arrange access to the property.

The report was in-depth and picked up several issues which we wouldn't have noticed. Lee was super helpful and followed up his report with a telephone consultation at no additional cost to go through the report with us and answer any questions we had. This not only allowed us to understand the issues in more detail, but also what sort of cost we would be looking at for each job and the work entailed.

Thanks to the report, we were able to renegotiate the purchase price of the property by several thousand pounds.

I would highly recommend South West Surveys as they are a professional, reliable, efficient and knowledgeable company who provide excellent service at a competitive price.

Second time I have used this company.l to survey a prospective purchase. Martin is extremely prompt and will walk you through the options over the phone in great detail. They were quick to arrange a visit with the house owner and within a day or so Lee had the report ready in a new, and very layman friendly, format to send over. Followed up with a zoom call a few days after that to discuss it in more detail, I felt very confident about understanding the state of the house and any potential issues. Lee was incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and included rough estimates of costs, an overall general opinion about the property and some general advice on negotiation with the home owner. It was clear that Lee had politely questioned the home owner at the time, researched the area thoroughly and was able to provide a small list of objective pros and cons about the property and the location.
Whilst the level 3 survey is not cheap, it's affordable and should be a no brainer when considering a purchase - I expect to save 10x the cost of the survey when renegotiating.

Martin from Domestic Survey recommended Lee as surveyor to inspect an old victorian propriety.

I would strongly recommend Lee to whoever is looking for a real professional surveyor.

The report he produced highlighted every single detail about the propriety, with pictures that explained what the issues were and what they were related to.

We also had a chance to speak with him on 1 hour zoom call which has been one of the most instructive call I had in ages. He took the time to go through everything that was explained in the report, as well as giving us recommendations regarding what to look for in a propriety.

In the end the house that was surveyed resulted to have structural issues and we won’t go ahead with the purchase, but I am left with an incredibly positive feeling knowing how much I learned and that without Lee we wouldn’t be able to dodge the bullet.

I will contact Lee for my next survey without even thinking about it.

The booking was made swiftly, and the survey report shared within a few days after the appointment. We recently used Lee's services for a survey on a detached 50's bungalow that had been extended over time and we are planning on purchasing. Lee was available to meet us at the house towards the end of the survey and pointed out some of the observations he had identified. We found his survey report very thorough and were pleased with the overall outcome. Fortunately for us, the property was in a good condition overall, but Lee highlighted some areas where future maintenance was needed (and to be expected). Martin at Domestic Surveys was very informative, friendly and managed to book us in with Lee for a full structural survey of our property we had an offer agreed upon.
The amount of detail and professionalism in Lee's report was brilliant. There were lots of pictures of around the house including the whole roof structure and chimney stack.
The report highlighted many areas and without it we could have made a huge financial mistake with the serious issues that would never have been found were it not for the survey.

Lee took the time to do a long video chat to go through everything in more detail and to explain to us the issues and what could have been done to rectify them.
We eventually decided not to proceed but have now booked Domestic Surveys already for our next offer.

Lee Preston has delivered on time a clear and detailed full building survey report. He has offered to meet afterwards so I can ask questions about the content, and provided guidance on actions to take. He also answered further questions via email.
Martin has also been great at organizing the survey, and answering my questions in a timely manner.

Overall we've been highly impressed with the service provided by the company and in particular, Lee the surveyor.

Lee provided a comprehensive report of the condition of our new home and has helped us to identify key issues that otherwise would have gone unnoticed.

He was also more than happy to arrange follow up consultations to go through the report and to help us understand the key issues picked up and what impact they may have.

The survey provided by South West Sirveyor/Domestic Surveyor for the flat I am in the purchasing process is very good. The report is comprehensive and easy to understand. In addition, the surveyor, Lee Preston, is very helpful. He initiated a zoom meeting with me after sending us the report. So that I can ask for his advice if there is anything that I don’t understand. He also reminded me on some important issues that I need to follow up with our solicitor or other professionals we may appoint in future.
Although there are surveyors who may charge lower fee, the money spent is worth for the services received.
Despite schedule of the survey had been postponed twice due to technical issue caused by another party, the survey can still be completed in a timely manner without any additional cost. This company and the surveyor are highly recommended.

Lee carried out a full building survey on my property. He was an absolute star from beginning to end. He uses a traffic light system on his detailed report, which made it very easy to see what I should pay attention to in the short, medium and long term. This enabled me to source the appropriate trades people to provide quotes. Lee kindly looked at these to confirm if they are in line with what he would expect to for the work required.

Being a first time buyer I had many questions which Lee was always happy to answer. If I didn’t quite understand something he would source a picture or Youtube video that made it completely clear.

Lee is fantastic at his job and really lovely guy too, so I would certainly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality surveyor, especially if a first time buyer.

We asked a Level 3 building survey for the house we are purchasing, and could have it booked fairly quickly. The report was very thorough and full of details coming together with a full folder of pictures. The recommendations for remediation were also very thorough, and we could also have a zoom session with the surveyor to ask further questions. Thanks to this report we could renegotiate a small reduction on the price of the house, and we have now a clear road map of things to be done on the house.

I got a home buyer's survey with Lee Preston. Its the first time I have ever bought a house and I was really impressed with the ease with which I was able to get an appointment (thank you Martin) and then the speed with which I received the report - just two days after the survey was carried out. Lee completed a survey on the house I purchased in April and provided an excellent service from start to finish. He was very accommodating with regards to availability and ensured that he was clear in the procedures he was going to do with regard to COVID. This made myself, and the previous owners, confident he was being safe and stringent with his risk assessments. After the inspection I received a thorough document of the property detailing all aspects of the house on the inside and out. Each area was graded in terms of risk and particular problems were explained in detail but also simply enough for non-professionals. He also recommended what work needed to be carried out with a rough estimate of costs. Not only was this explained in the document, as he also made a follow up call to talk in person about the work. This was a nice touch as a one-to-one call makes things easier to understand.
Overall, I was very impressed. There is only so much you can see when you view a potential property so it was great to get expert advice. For the money I spent on the survey I saved in the purchase of the house ten-fold so I highly recommend Lee and his team.

The whole experience with Lee was great. We went for the full report rather than the HomeBuyers’ Report as this is our first time buying an old property. We were recommended to Lee from a friend of ours, we received the report within a couple of days after the initial survey date. As we were first time buyers we wanted to know what issues may be present at the property, and who we would need to instruct to carry out any repairs.

The homebuyers report was laid out nicely and the traffic light system really works well. We could see what repairs were urgent and or required further investigations as well as any less serious repairs.

The report was supplied with a number of annotated pictures of the main issues identified. This was very helpful and allowed us understand where some of the issues were located.

Lee ran through the report over the phone with us and answered all the questions we put forward. We were happy with the price and serviced provided and would definitely use Lee again.

Lee carried out a Homebuyers Survey for us on a house we were looking to buy. The survey was booked-in quickly and we were provided with a clear a concise report.

We received the report my email and had a phone call a few days later.
