Windows 10 as a business platform - thoughts?

After the awful release of Windows 8 and subsequent 8.1, I hung on as long as possible to my faithful Windows 7. But we then ended up in the office with a mixture of Windows 7, 8.1 and recently Windows 10.

I was surprisingly impressed with Windows 10. It takes a little fiddling (in my opinion) to make it more user friendly, and have decided to download the 3rd party Classic Shell Start Menu. But overall it's performed very well with few complaints.

My Windows 7 machine finally reached the end of its working life, and I reluctantly replaced it with a Windows 10 version. After 4 years, my new machine is obviously a lot faster, has double the memory (wish I did!), but surprisingly, I'm really impressed with Windows 10. I've also put the Classic shell start menu on it, just to give me a Windows 7 style start bar, but other than that I really like it.

The Action Centre works well, I like some of the apps like the news, but most importantly it's stable. Loaded up with the usual Office apps, plus adobe products, it's performing fine, crash free (touch wood) and shuts down and boots up in record time.

I'm genuinely impressed after spend years moaning about MS products

Have many others moved over now to Windows 10? If so are you happy with it, or is it no different to Windows 8 or any other operating system? ie as long as your apps work, you're happy.

Having made the move I can't notice any discernible benefits once the initial shiny new system syndrome wears off. I thought about installing the Shell on top as it is SO ANNOYING to find Microsoft have yet again hidden all of their useful core system utilities under a new menu layout but felt that beat the purpose of the upgrade. Thank goodness for Windows key+X!

wait till you try and make the stupid thing sleep arggggggggg ,it's like a flipping baby and wakes up 3 or 4 times a night .. I have tried just about everything ..Yes yes I know just turn it off ,but I oten have things I need to keep running or not finished off and is a real bind trying to set it all up again each time, other than that I too am very happy with it

From win 7 to 10 I agree, but on our win 8 machines, good riddance, and win 10 is very welcome!

Interesting, not just us then!

We've got the same problem on a Windows 8.1 upgraded to Win 10 machine. It's our accounts machine and bursts into life all by itself overnight, and now we have to shut it down rather than put it to sleep.

Might have to have a google, maybe it's a known issue with upgrades, I assumed it was just our ropey box!

Its windows, it always wants to put updates on which I'm convinced keep breaking my computer and everyone wants to keep changing things. I just want to be able to save my files and do my work and not waste time trying to find things because some bright spark at Microsoft decided to move everything.

My views & opinions are my own

sadly it's not ,you will find a lot of people complaining about it ,start by going though everything that wakes up the PC ( there are a few things ) and just leave wake on mouse movement ..

But if you find something that works please share

Thanks,

I'm still on Win7 on all of my windows machines. I'm not sold on anything windows until it's proven to be better than something good they've already made.

I'm not sold on anything "new win os" until it's proven to be better than something good they've already made.

I have the sleep/hibernate problem. Can't get it to work without the battery dying. It's an absolute pain. It also doesn't shut down properly most times and I have to press the off button manually. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Usually i get accused of breaking my lappy - seems win10 has become my savior

Everything gets blamed on win10 now
