@Scootek: interested to know what is your experience of Qype so far. Are you on the free listing?

@ithas2bedone: I sent you a couple of messages in the last weeks via Qype with different options to improve your premium listing and offering you free added features so we can test and learn; plus see whether this helps at all, considering you're in a niche market. Can you please come back to me on this via the site?

We have paid listing. As I said before, I am not doing it in the hope that we get business from them. If it helps in our overall ranking then it's been worth it.

If it gets us one or two leads then it's a bonus. People find us through seach engines. Nearly always.

Too early to tell.

I am on the free listing for some of my sites or at least i was, but then i was told that it was counterproductive to have too many websites linked to the same domain or something like that.
As for my experiences so far, and am i happy No good experiences and no i am not happy, i am spending money with no returns.

I thought that i had sent a reply to the free features so that we can all learn and see if it will work. please feel free to do what ever you feel works, all i want is a return on my outlay for the mould and sempatap thermal side of the busienss. i have totally lost interest in the whole advert no and so if it happens good if it dont i will be looking for the promised refund.
I dont understand your side of the business and if i did i would not have had a need for the advert in the first place. however i do not have time to play with the construction or to keep altering details unless they are relevant to the day to day running of the business.

If you have google analytic's on your websites then you should be able to pick up qype enquires in the stats

Quick straw pole - how many people here have any directory referrals showing up in their stats?

Or anyone phoning saying I saw you on such and such.

Just checked a site I have listed on qype from the beginning of 2010 I have one referral from there site - to put in perspective from splut I have had 25!

I recently place my website on QYPE premium listing and am pleased to say that it has generated sales and traffic.

Nice to see some positive feedback as well.

You see a lot of directory bashing threads across different forums, especially against some of the larger ones like Yell and Thomsons. A lot of it may be justified, and there are also some shockingly bad directories out there, that will flog your details, trick you into payment etc.

Some directories are just complete tosh, with no traffic that give us all a bad name, but I also know businesses that spend thousands every year on Yell and are vey happy with the results, (think

In response to Steve, I agree. It depends on the nature of your business and what you plan to get out of it. I find Yell oversells and it gets crowded so the value of a premium listing devalues. Shame, because it's such a well known name. If they weren't so greedy they could really do well. This and various other factors make me doubt Yell's future.
