This is an old article, but please allow me to share my opinion

A good thing about online advertising is, you don't have to spend at least $10k to get a mass exposure. And that allow an average business owner with smaller capital to start their business and spend lesser on advertising.

And the Internet is a good marketing tool as many millions of people sit in front of there computers day in day out, weather it be on social networking sites or searching google. Maybe more people sit in front of a PC than a TV?

True, but your PC is an interactive device, where as your TV is a dumb device that focuses all of your concentration.

As your fooling around on your myspace page, you really paying any attention to the banner advert? Now your nice and comfy, watching TV and in the middle of a Happy days rerun (ok ok), and you will sit through a bunch of adverts absorbing all that magic brand building.

TV advertising is a whole lot cheaper than the bad old days, well in the reach of small and medium businesses, or at least it is in the states, and I'm pretty sure the UK is now the same.

They have to compete with the internet and new media for advertising revenue, but never forget the power of TV when its beamed at your average couch slouch

Well maybe i spend to much time at a PC! lol! When on Facebook there are always ads down the side, and pop ups on some sites ect ect...
The Internet i feel is still a very powerful tool specially if your a company targeting younger customers. I don't know a great deal about advertising and can only comment on what i see.

your completely right, the internet is a fantastic marketing tool, but I just wanted to show the difference between TV and Online.

Online gives very quick and cheap results, but TV is still the daddy when it comes to brand.

Yep TV will win hands down on branding but not everyone has the budget that TV commands.

Internet is relatively cheap but also can be instant in its response, Adwords is a good example of affordable instant marketing

I think, for the small company, Internet advertising is the best, small comapnies cant afford as said the 10k to advertise, which is seen by all, but not taken in by all.

Where internet and the likes of google adwords seems to be better is that you pay for people who are looking for your product. and click on your site, which if up to scratch, prices are right you get the rewards, for the cost you can afford.

thats my thoughts as a novice.
