He's over here for 2 years with a work permit and a really nice chap. But....
Why does it seem ok to take on an Aussie, yet if I took on an eastern european say like from Romania there would have been different views? And before anyone asks, I had 160 replies within 10 hours of placing the advert and not one UK citizen replied.. I can't figure it out myself..

Thanks,
Barney

"They" always have an opinion on just about everything, mostly ineffective nonsense that is counterproductive to a sole trader or smaller company.

That's pretty impressive, and tragic!

Out of nosy curiosity what kind of ad, newpaper, newsagent card in the window or online job board?

Funny business still construction - some are still holding out for the same money as a few years ago and would rather sit at home.

Has the learn to be a plumber in 20 minute courses seen a load of new people in the business then?

Difficult to say really, the fast track plumbing courses are also now struggling, most of the courses were on finance packages from Barclays, so unless you have the funds the chances of doing a course which costs around
