So I have this website I have been working on. Its a website for a plumber/plumbing company in a certain town, now its my website and I have done all the seo and what not myself, and it has recently hit 1st in google places, which im happy about. So its finally getting some traffic to the site and everything.
Now I need to find a plumber or plumbing company who would like to either rent the site (my preferred choice) or buy the domain/site. As I have said before I dont have much experience with selling actuall stuff, I'm more of the techi person who knows what he does with a computer.
Any suggestions where I could find the place/method to find someone to either rent or buy the site?
Thanks
You could try the UK plumbers forum and ask on there, no good asking me as I wouldn't be interested. I fail to see the point in renting a website as you have no control over it, after all if you disappear so does the site leaving the person renting it in limbo. Even if you manage to sell it, I can't imagine you retiring on the proceeds as you'll find most plumbers struggling for work up and down the country so they won't be to willing to part with or gamble their money on a Google place position, just because it's there now dosen't mean it is going to be there next week and nor does being in Google places guarantee your telephone will be ringing. Like I said try the UK plumbers forum, but don't hold your breath in trying to make a quick buck, because we are the champs at doing that! ![]() Thanks, Barney
The thing with buying the site is true, but then again it would around the same price to buy it and to rent it out for the year. But as you said they would have to do the seo themselves unless they want to hire me or someone else for it. To be honest I don't know how much I would be able to get, but if i can sell it for enough, i can start up two new similar sites, and then do the same stuff with them. The renting side of it though, I would offer different options, like month by month, or pay for a certain period of time. I can see the month by month being the more liked option unless if I offered 2 months free if they sign up for a year. The renting would include my seo services so it would stay up there. Also is it over pricing asking for JamesK
very great opportunity to improve business with website.
This proves that you have the ability to get to a website to P1 Google and that is your selling point. Maybe you did not consider that so long as you know how exactly you did it (get to P1 Google) then you are selling the idea that you can create websites and get them to P1 Google.. ...so why not keep the example website for plumbers as an example for people to refer to when you are selling them (other plumbers) their own personal site.. Yeah it's a great idea, but why did you do the work to this site if you arn't a plumber?
I planned to rent the site out to a plumber once it has reached the top.. also i had to choose a niche of a local business so that I can prove I can get to the top.. I guess I will see if anyone of my friends knows a plumber otherwise I might do some cold calling JamesK
“....I guess I will see if anyone of my friends knows a plumber otherwise I might do some cold calling” Still amazes me that cold calling works? I guess it does because I still get them but I have never bought anything this way? Has anybody reading this bought something from a cold caller? Just curious.

I've done exactly the same as this before but with locksmith work. My best advice - pick up the yell pages, call a few and say who you are and don't come across salesman like. Ask if they would like to meet for a coffee to go through it. Better still if you get any jobs through send one or two in the meantime to the plumber, thats bound to perk his interest. You can then either rent the site as you say or if you strike up a good rapport with someone then send them jobs but agree you want a % of whatever the job value is. You can make very good money this way - ok it does appear easy for the plumber to shortchange you however you can monitor this if you have the clients name and number so you can do the odd checkups also if you get yourself a decent guy then you shouldn't have any problems. |
