Part time or occasional smokers are still smokers  Keep the faith and fight any temptation!

My vice is cakes - the ones dripping with cream, icing, fruit, walnuts, bananas ....

I really don't want to have to exercise my willpower to fend off temptation.  Total abstinence# is much easier psychologically than moderate guzzling.

The same holds true for smoking, I think.

# here, total abstinence only means never buying or baking a cake.

Thank you Steve, I chew a lot more gum now that's for sure! Makes me think of that commercial.. "Have a dirty mouth?" Clean it up!

Well done for quitting, but remember, there are only smokers or non smokers!

Hi, I'm sami, and I'm still smoking.  Lol

I did quit for a while though, should get brownie points for that, but things went horribly pear shaped at home for a long while, and my nasty little habit came back with a vengeance. Horrible how it still calms you after the initial head rush. Needless to say, its been about two or three weeks since I had a heart attack (a teeny tiny one everyones blowing the world out of proportion about) and it seems its time for me to try again. And NO cold turkey this time. Will have to wean myself off them I think.

Thanks,
Dreamraven

Right young lady, that's a clear shot across the bows if you ever needed one!

No more talking, time to start doing and quit!

We want regular progress reports. Look at our man Ray who started this thread years ago. Smokings ancient history to him now and he turns up to work in a Bentley

No idea how you can play down a heart attack and still convince yourself its ok to smoke !

Mind you i was smoking 20 a day when my Mum first got diagnosed with cancer  - it didnt stop me either.

You have the forums support  First step - smoke your last cig & throw away the rest of the packet ....

Day one starts tomorrow !

Im not playing it down, it was the most terrifying night if my life, lol despite the incompetent moppets that overdosed me on morphine -that was fun - but it made me think long and hard and this needs to be done. And asap. So regular reports ye shall have, and theres no going back. Ever.

Thanks,
Dreamraven

Oh I wish I could turn up in a Bentley...I did however buy a nissan quashing with my cig money.

Coming up to 3 years now (I stopped in February 2012), best decision I have ever made.

As an ex-smoker I will never judge, preach or lecture anyone however I will always recommend quitting and try to support that person through the tough times.

this forum was a fantastic help for me...

On the 26 February 2015, I will have achieved 3 years as a non smoker.

Looking back at some of the posts I noticed Steve will now be approaching 9 years

dreamraven stopped for a while then lapsed. I do hope she tried again

I hope this thread has helped others too.....

Thanks,

Am delighted for you Sharpink.

And hoping so fervently, Dreamraven, that you've said goodbye to the dratted weed forever.

All best wishes ....

3 years, wow where has the time gone! 9 years for me, blimey.

We are fully certified ex smokers, never to restart

I can't abide the smell of fags, or the stale smell that lingers around smokers. As controversial as it has been in recent years, I love the fact that restaurants and pubs are smoke free.

Has been a cracking thread, charting yourself stopping smoking and hope it has inspired others.

There is a certain young lady who needs to stop but keeps falling off the wagon! Come on dreamraven, time to give it a go again, we need an update....
