so wish that I could quit smoking, been trying for years and just can't manage it.

Step 1 - it might seem like semantic nit picking but - have a l@@k at your sentence.. Change ^quit^ for ^Stop^ and to the mind it can seem a lot easier to consider in some ways even tempting...

Stopping and starting and stopping takes Power and authority, responsibility leading to reward.

Nobody wants to be a quitter.. it brings to mind associations of weakness and failure.

Day 7 as a non smoker. First day back after a short break, arrived at 07:50, to face 158 emails (most were pointless). Checked my telephone messages (11 in total and one call from a guy who could not remember his own name or why he had called me! Thankfully I did recognise his voice.) 09:30 straight in to an IDAP group (Integrated Domestic Abuse Programme) 2.5 hours of arguments, tears and tantrum...s. 13:30 got a call to advise that a release from prison had arrived and he was being quite rude to reception staff! No lunch straight back to the office, had a "chat". Interviwed another two, didn't have time to write anything up so need to go back in early tomoz. Oh...didn't have time to think about smoking so guess today was a sucess and another

Thanks,

That gave me the biggest smile of the day, very funny...

I would also like to say a massive thanks for everyone that got involved in this thread, you have no idea just how much it has helped. I look forward to reading the comments and I also feel that I have to see this through, can't imagine just how much stick I would get if I fail now!

Well done - Satistics show that round about day 12- 17 are where the strongest challenges can occur, make a plan, you are doing very well.

if you think that you are spending lot of money for your health injuries you will die.because when you will know that the smoke or alchohel cause of your health and cause of lake of expense of money....save the money and love with yourself and your life....

you're gna get stick alright. lol

Your body is already starting to repair itself from most of the damage, so don't think about straying now. You're going to start getting your taste buds back again as well, so food is going to taste awfully good (as intended). A friend of mine's wife stopped smoking a while back and apparently it took two years for them to know what chocolate actually tasted like. Is that really true? or were they just over exaggerating?

Congrats on your progress so far.

Here are some (32) very interesting Fact Sheets of information on smoking - provided by ASH Action for Smoking and Heath - Scroll down to the list to see the full list of smoking satistics.
