Many persons seem to agree that Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other social media platforms are a great way to generate business and monetize your website.

You can put video on your website. Google and the other search engines like this and it helps to optimise the site.

Putting video on directories such as YouTube to drive traffic to your website is another way to market.

I usa banner and test ads in my site to increase revenue and traffic.

Went through the entire thread and well, the only thing I got out of it was "adsense". Is there really no other full proof and well- known way..??

Yep, there are plenty of ways. Adsense is just quick, easy and anyone can do it. Likewise affiliate links, sign up with someone like Affiliate Window, and you can display products or services of just about anyone and get a small percentage kick back. In reality though, as people have pointed out, it can put people off, and with out any decent volume of traffic, you will generate very little.

Partnering with other businesses works well, if your core audience is appealing to someone else, then another biz will be happy to pay for banner ads, promotion etc.

We also monetize via 0843 numbers, 5p per minute local call rate, but that works out very well. Other sites go for premium numbers, including 09 numbers, but I think thats a step too far. But its a form of monetization.

All down to the kind of site you have. If its low traffic, niche but you are selling products or services, then any traffic should be targeted for your own sales. If you have an information site, blog, portal etc, then your mission is to grow as much traffic as possible and monetize it.

You will find once your traffic gets to a certain level, partners and opportunities will come and find you.

you can sell a part of your website like a link or a page that someone can change depending on what you value your website as to how much you charge per advertising space, link, page. , etc.

you could sell affiliate products on your site, go to clickbank to find products related to your site.

but eventually if people like your site enough people might offer you some money to place a add on your site without you having to look for a advertiser, let them come to you.

To build something that can attract visitors and show ad accordingly, ad sense is probably the only tool can do it automatically and correctly. i had a website for 1 years (discontinue now), showing people how to make money on betting, but never had traffic. So, I am still learning.

I think you have to be careful striking a balance between short term revenue and longer term gains. For free sites like plenty of fish, Adsense is the main form of income. In this example, the adverts frequently show links to other paid dating sites.

Personally I didnt want to do that with my own site, whereby we let the competition display links on our own pages and help the customers leave our site.

I guess it's really a question of the business model you are going to use and what type of customers you want to attract to your site. If your running a hobby website in your spare time then Adsense can be a great way of providing you with extra income.

never tried any video stuff, maybe you can claim any adsense that is clicked on the actual video? They run adsense at the bottom of vid's now don't they?

I have just set up an ad link on my You Tube. Haven't done much at all with it yet but just getting the basics in place ready for the millions of viewers I pick up once my video of paint drying goes up

It is worth doing as although you get very little for a lot of views it all helps and if you are doing it anyway then what is the harm?

And I guess, the more videos you have that get a good number of views, the better you do? it sounds really interesting so far
