Website promotion can be done through different ways, if you want to promote on search engine then do the SEO but it will require some time. Similarly if you want to promote through social media then do social media optimization.

SEO is the best way to promote you business or website.

That can cause an undying loop. For me, SEO is the basis you work on to get a site listed. Off page is more tied to the marketing side because when you use videos, social networks and the like, you're bound to leave links behind for people to follow. But, SEO is not the be all and end all of a marketing campaign to bring traffic and conversions to a site. Its part of it. What you do online, not on your own site, but everywhere else, reflects you and your company. You can get your name out there in so many ways by creating product related videos, podcasting, etc.

Ah well, in my humble opinion anyway. Hate me if you must I'm just seeing this all over the net where people think a link can sell a product.
