I have hearing on the Internet that writing articles and submitting them to article directories is not such a good thing anymore that major search engines do not look at them as good quality links back to your chosen destination! Have you heard of this also what is your thoughts on this subject.

My gut feel (no data) is that the Google-induced article directories upheaval has now settled and writing articles for directories has some SEO benefit. I no longer feel article writing's my express highway to Google pge 1.

Article writing is definitely worth doing but the articles have to be of a good quality and not some rehashed rubbish. If you are not a great writer yourself go to an article writing service (Textbroker).

Also, I believe that you need to be careful about which directories you submit your articles to. Ezinearticles and GoArticles are two of the better quality directories.

If you want to use an article submission service Submityourarticle has a good reputation.

In this post panda world, what are the rules now with article submission?

If you have a good quality article, would you just submit to one article directory? Or is it still a case of submitting to multiple directories? Just wondering about duplicate content.

Or is it a case submitting to a few gives you a better chance of getting your article picked up?

In the bad old days you would maybe rewrite or spin for different directories, but I'm guessing that's all ancient history now?

Duplicate content always had me worried. I would rather write one article per submission. IMHO spinning has always been bad. Its just to easy to take your article or someone elses' (I have seen that), and then spin it into something that barely makes sense.

Article submission can still work. If its well written, and geared towards visitors and not search engines. But these days, its all about doing things quickly, getting those links out there to point back to your site. I think that is why I am actually happy Google brought out the zoo to tame these guys. There are a lot of really good sites out there with awesome content, and these other "marketers" are dirtying the playing field. (/rant)

I do agree you all about submitting article will not have that seo benefit after panda update but if you simply turn that in to the blog post then it will be much effective. I have tried this and i must say that this is working till now. i hope this will help you!

Same as Steve I was also wondering how effective article writing was these days.
I knew somebody who had a few sites on Page 1 of Google and he said it was mainly down to article submission - multiple article submission to multiple sites including some spinning.
I'm not sure if this is so effective now?
I did a few articles about a year ago and submitted to 3 or 4 sites and it didn't seem to have any impact on my Google ranking from what I could see.

I'm experimenting a bit with some of my site pages that have been up a long while but were never properly thought about (no time) or SEO optimised (didn't know how to).

The current "strategy" for each of these pages is:-

-sort out what my target audiences might want to buy from me and what I can deliver (ahem - better late than never????)
- try and find relevant but easy search terms (takes ages and is distinctly hit and miss) and re-write the text accordingly
- try to write at least 2 ezine articles promoting that page

The re-writing (maybe aided a little bit by one very new GoArticle) got one of the new pages half-way up Google pge 2 (UK only) for one of the search terms - encouraging because the old page was invisible.

It'll be interesting to see what movement there is (if any) now I've written 2 GoArticles pointing to that page.

A content writer will always be wanted by companies. It's about how you write that counts on Google. Plagiarism is the only thing that they are against. And for the links that you spoke about, its how well you manage to not make it look like a spam is all that matters to let the link remain in the comment or the comment remain in the page. Hope this helped. Cheers.
