I realise people don't understand it but I also think a lot of very small businesses use it when they're bored. They use as a way of communicating with the outside world and enthusiastically promote their business. The problem is when they're busy they go quiet and you get no consistency across the message they are giving. ukstorage

I know what you mean, then you all end up in the Yellow Pages trap, I'm going in it because they're in it, I'll have a full page because they've got a full page. Everyone ends up in Yellow Pages and it isn't working for anyone! Not sure why that doesn't work for Thomson Local... ukstorage

Social media does work, and works very well. The key is building a relationship with your followers. If you bombard people with promotional tweets/posts 24/7 then they aren't going to click through. When I carry out social media campaigns for companies I tend to make sure I get at least 2 useful, funny or social posts a day and then once a week I will make a promotional post. Your following will be much more receptive, give it a go ![]() OLBNow
