Hey guys what do you think about the new windows OS cell phones by HTC, Nokia and other brands?
I am planning on buying one so kindly share your views about it.
Regards
I guess you are referencing windows Phone 8, the most recent version of the windows mobile operating system. Although I don't own one, I have been looking at them fairly closely recently. They look well laid out with most if not all of the applications you would likely run, I currently own an iPhone and was able to find the windows versions of almost every app I would require. Perhaps the biggest benefit for me is that the business is built on Microsoft Office 365, which has incredibly tight integration with the new Windows phone 8. I should be able to work fairly seamlessly from it, it will give me outlook for email, Lync for instant messaging my colleagues and the office apps to look at documents on the go. I guess it depends on what ecosystem your phone is and how easy it will be to move and how much learning curve will be needed. In my case it should be almost nothing..... hopefully! ![]() Thanks, Remotetechs
“Hey guys what do you think about the new windows OS cell phones by HTC, Nokia and other brands? I am planning on buying one so kindly share your views about it. Currently Samsung has deliver AVI with windows 8, but it was several issues. I don't know about HTC. But if truly want to buy window 8 phone with then you must go with Nokia phone. haiganjordan
I used a HTC Trophy with Windows Phone 7 for 2 years and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. Now I've got a Nokia Lumia 900 and I love it. it's worth getting just for the free SatNav (turn by turn voice navigation). it's fantastic. plus the free music with Nokia Music. XBox Games. Office. the list goes on. it's all just amazing. can't wait to upgrade to the Lumia 920 though with the even better camera + wireless charging. it just looks so good in red (or yellow). other phones are just dull in comparison. I've just got a Nokia Lumia and I think it's great, I like the integration with the Office Suite and the mail client is good too. Browsing experience is really good and it's still got plenty of apps available for it. Nevertheless, I still miss the physical keyboard of the BlackBerry. neil@camisonline
My eldest came to me at one point and said that her friend had a lumia and that windows 8 kept freezing the phone, so she went back to her blackberry. Do you have any of those problems at all? I mean it could just be the phone itself being a bit of a dud then. I have an iphone 4, and tbh Don't think I'm going to be swapping it for anything at the moment. Unless its an iPad or galaxy tab ![]() Thanks, Dreamraven
never had any problems with it freezing. The lumia was quite cost effective compared to an iPhone but I guess you've got to consider the features that you want and need. I can't say that I've ever wanted to use a mobile to watch movies through a HDMI connection when I have a PC under the telly for that :-) neil@camisonline
'Tis good to know ![]() ![]() Thanks, Dreamraven
I've never quite understood why there are so many mobile apps - Apple has over 650K. I think there are needs for specific business apps to give access to line of business applications. My friend showed me a new app yesterday whereby you could book a taxi. I mean what could be more efficient than ringing the taxi office and saying that you want a taxi? The call would only last about 20 seconds; It would take longer than that to find the app in your menu! I've got a 7 channel amp connected via optical to the home theatre PC. The wife doesn't like the speakers because they take up so much space. I put the wires in the walls when we decorated to meet her halfway. I can't watch a Hollywood Blockbuster on the silly little speakers in the back of the telly! neil@camisonline
I can get by without a lot of the apps I see in iTunes, most of them you spend more time working on them, than it could have taken you to do it yourself. It's probably because you can "do it on an iPhone" that it makes people want to use the apps so much. Which is probably why app development is kinda lucrative. I went to my local China Mall yesterday, and came away with a nifty little pouch gadget for my iPhone. It was a phone pouch in 2 pieces. One is a "case" for the iPhone, and the other is the clip it slides into. Which also doubles up as a stand of sorts. Was walking around all day with it on my hip, and this morning its standing on my desk. Thanks, Dreamraven |
