SEO isn't going to go away, but it is very quickly becoming a dramatically different field. SEO companies that want to survive need to adopt some or all of the following:
There's probably some others, but two major ones are integrating PR and learning to create interesting content. These are much more like traditional marketing / PR than what is historically thought of as SEO. The SEs, but especially Google, are getting much better at identifying quality content. It used to be that no matter what quality the content, you could usually overwhelm it with link quantity and get it ranked. Not anymore. It's incredible the advances Google has made in detecting quality content and I think it's only going to continue. John Crenshaw
SEO is not going anywhere, and just like the businesses that advertise using the Yellowpages (also not dead by the way...just not as sexy) didn't adapt when something else new and shiney came along, new opportunities will always abound. I'm just recently, reluctantly getting my head around pinterest...I recognize its important. I think the moving target of SEO will be alive and well for some time to come. Regards Los focusedlife
SEO is not ending it is just evolving, it now falls under content marketing with technical SEO still having an import part to play. Good quality shareable content that answers a customers question is what a search engine is all about, being able to research what people are looking for and actively talk about and written compelling content to answer these questions, adds value and is what Google is all about. No,There are a few elements to Google's Hummingbird algorithm, announced in time for Google's official birthday, but like Caffeine before it, this is really a major platform change. Google has built a capability to understand conversational search queries much better than before. paulinc
Ilove this question, see it so many times, "is seo dead" i think its more a case of wishful thinking from small business owners. The art of optimising your web pages for the search engines is always going to be in demand, just the tecniques that change. Shakester

Rules might change, but the concept remains the same. |
