Blimey, Yellow Pages is in trouble again as it struggles along with falling revenues. It's called the Hibu group these days, but runs the on and offline familiar yellow directories.

Apparently they are set to default on

Hi, Steve - you've got to wonder how on earth folks get away with running up this amount of debt ..... there you go, that's the green eye of jealousy running riot again :O

I think that Yellow Pages are going to be changing a lot more than their business strategy

Given the number of times they rang me one week when I was on holiday (27 missed calls) they must have one hell of a phone bill, perhaps that explains the debt!!

When they did get to speak to me they did not fill me with confidence that they could do anything for me, they gave an impression all they were interested in was getting me signed up for a premium service.

Maybe the hard sell is the only thing they could think of to bring in some revenue perhaps?

I think their business model is seriously flawed and the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Game over for them I think. No point in them dragging things on much longer......

Blimey 27 times! They really are old school when it comes to the hard sell, and they have a huge salesforce to pay for, which seems to add to the problem, not solve it!

The thing is, everyone has been saying the same thing for years, the Yellow book is doomed and Yells sales force are too aggressive, and listings too expensive. Seems the only people who weren't listening was the management

I read that, I have never been impressed by Yellow pages, so this HIBU, hm hopefully I might give it a try, although its name sounds like a Chinese social network to me.

Spoken with a few former Yell guys who have been critical of the HIBU brand. They claimed it had caused untold confusion internally and externally with clients, mainly because they moved their email system over to reflect the hibu name.

Does seem an odd move, and like or loathe them, yell is an instantly familiar brand with a lot of power and potential. Hibu means nothing to most people in the street.
