Some may find this a little heavy going, but if you are serious about understanding and learning SEO, then forget about the traditional spammy link building image and look to the future. Structured Data.

Yes, spamming is not the best way to promote websites with the help of SEO. If you want to promote websites then you have to work on white hat seo technique in which content should not be duplicated and back links may be generated on high PR websites. If you use duplicate content then Google panda update will affect your site and your website may be penalized also. so always try to use white hat seo for website promotion.

Forgiveness, but this has nothing to do with white hat or black hat, duplicate content or the all too infamous Panda updates. Its about developing a site using structured data, or not, what it does, how it evolved and information about each area like microdata etc. Have a read through the post linked in the thread, its a really enlightening read.

It clearly shows that there is a lot more to SEO than simply whacking a site together, loading it with keywords, and then venturing out on the web to wreak havoc building backlinks.

To quote from tutsplus:

The term Structured data refers to information formatted in a universally understandable way. Search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo use structured data (implemented within web pages) to refine search results, filter with greater accuracy and enhance the way results are displayed. Totally irrelevant comment that shows you never read the article, understood, and to be fair represents everything that is wrong with the SEO industry. In effect, you have just fulfilled your own prophecy by spamming this thread

In hindsight, maybe we should keep techniques like this hush hush from netherworld marketers. But it takes a lot longer to build a site using structured data, so I guess that fact in itself might stop them from churning out hundreds of new sites a day.

Like you say, it would take a lot of time and effort, so I don't think it will be a major issue.

I now want to design the framework for a large database driven site from the ground up using a semantic layout, and just thinking about it I get more excited Think I need to get out more... and save some pennies...

Wow quite a long article you have there, but it looks interesting, I will surely read it. I also have a blog where I've tried setting up structured data for rich snippets. It really works and it looks good on the serps also but there are a few things that I would like to be shown as well, like images about my article, site links... and so on. I hope I will find some good advice in the aforementioned article thanks.

Thanks,
Elisabeth
