Personally I'd say link bait, ie decent content. It's not quick, but is long term and google friendly.

Personally I'd say link bait, ie decent content. It's not quick, but is long term and google friendly.

Although it does make a lot of sense I am not 100% sure about that now.

Websites with rich content are still desperately trying to compete with others which offer minimal content but still manage to be in the top positions in G.

So it must be something else

Unfortunately the link still seems to be the king and not necessarily the content, but when it comes to obtaining links, generating decent content that auto builds natural links over time can only be a good thing.

As new versions of the Penguin algorithm get rolled out, the situation is slowly changing, but for every positive effect, there are plenty of negative examples or sites caught in the crossfire.

It's a stressful time to be working in SEO at the moment with so much flux and change if you are looking after your own site, but its also pretty interesting!

Link building isn't dead yet, focus on creating quality links from niche sites/forums/blogs.

Further, there are still some blogs who offer free guest blog posting, you just need to fulfill their requirements. Other than it, you can publish your article/s on articlebase.com or on sooperarticles.com for quality links and improved keyword/s ranking.

As you will hear everywhere, great content should be at the core of your online strategy. Over time you should see results through people sharing your content and linking back to it.

In a way I am going to demonstrate this in action right now.

Jon Cooper over at Point Blank SEO has created the definitive guide to link building strategies - it is an excellent article covering all you need to know about link building.

You can find it here

In his blog he states that he has never created a link to this article. He just set out to build the best resource on the subject of link building. This has now been shared and linked to many times, placing it no 1 in Google if you search link building strategies.

So follow that example maybe - build the best resource you can on an area related to your business. And if you do want to build links to it, check out the resource above.
