When I type "Haircuts in milton keynes" my web site surprisingly appears on the first page pointing to my wedding hairstyles page. where this phrase is not mentioned at all.
The keyword "haircuts in milton keynes" does not appear neither on this page no on the whole site at all.

But when I type the keywords I have designed the whole site for, my pages dont appear in the first 10 pages of the google search results

How should I understand this?
I struggle to follow the logic

Thanks,

Stop worrying on that point, far too many people only get their home page on there, it is actually better to go to a page within a site than the home page anyway.

I dont mind being directed to one of the pages within the site
I just dont understand why it suggested the page where the keyword is not mentioned at all

When checking your results in google make sure first that you are not signed into any google accounts and do the following

press at the same time:

ctrl - shift key - delete key this will clear your browser history and then at that stage check you rankings.

The words do appear in your html source code on one of your site links.

There are other similar websites of my competitors with far less content but still appearing on the first page when typing "hairdressers in milton keynes".
I dont understand why

Hi Lina

I noticed you have changed the title tags in your site, however google has not re-indexed your new page so at the moment the title change will have little impact.

Your going in the right direction but it can take anything from 3 to 6 months to see any real results - that said if the keywords are not that competitive can take only days.

You assume there is logic to SEO!

There are a multitude of factors governing your positions in the SERPs. These can vary from content, keywords, domain age, quality of links and is the famous Google algorythm, which we would all love to disect, and which everyone has a different opinion on!

Your domain was registered on the 19/02/2010, so in the eyes of the search engines, your very new. To be on the first page of Google for "Haircuts in milton keynes" is fantastic, regardless of the keyword. Your doing ok.

You are going the right direction, as Tomsk says it can take 3 - 6 months, sometimes longer.

Depending on your budget, maybe you would consider engaging an SEO consultant if time is of the essence, and you need specific keywords performing well. eg, maybe a link building campaign for your given keywords.

Other options for new sites, again depending on budgets can be adwords, to bumpstart your business.

I had a problem with a site earlier this year be indexed correctly because of the following

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; ch****t=UTF-8">

Which you have on your site - google would not pick up my keywords in the text because it was telling it do something with the language protocol.

You should change on all your pages to

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; ch****t=iso-8859-1" />

The board has flagged a word as rude or spam so the starts element should read

c-h-a-r-s-e-t (without the - in between)

But it is OK to use the "-" between words isn't it?
