I was having a general chat with a customer the otherday, those that have spoken to me know how i love to chat lol

Anyway it came up during the conversation that Mary had agreed to do some advertising with a company, the name sounded familiar as we had agreed to do something very similar a few years back - then i remembered it was a con - it was only then that Mary did some google searches on the company coming back with negative feedback - i have pasted her email below but have removed the companies name for legal reasons

If you get cold called by advertsiing companies - DO SOME RESEARCH! Only takes 5 mins to Google someone - if they are hard selling then dont buy - it cant be that good if they have to use heavy handed tactics.

Her email reads- "Thank you very much for the warning about ********, we could have very easily been out of pocket with these "IT Thugs" as i will now call them because after reading about them and how they prey on small businesses thats what they are ,and thanks to talking to yourself you have made us aware thank you very much from us both the dog grooming business is my daughters and she is only 20 and been in business for a year and to have this mob rip her off basically for 200 pounds is not on but thanks to your service there is one less they will get ,yours faithfully Mary and Amy"

Top advice, only wished I'd followed it when I got scammed At least someone benefited from our misfortune!

we get calls from these kind all the time, promise of getting our business on front page google blah blah blah.
well thanks for that but we are already on front page google, no cost involved just a lot of personal headaches but we got there .
question we always ask is 'Where did you get our number from?'
yep the very same place that our customers get it from!
'If you found us... so will our potential customers'
thanks but no thanks

I've had three or four phone calls asking me to "support our boys and girls in blue" by advertising with some kind of unspecified police event.

Not a huge problem for me considering that (a) I'm not in the market for advertising and (b) I'd been warned about that one from other people, but still.

On the bright side, it confirmed that the shiny-new business phone number is definitely functional, definitely out there, and definitely attached to the correct business name!

I always say, if things can be that cheap, a top service, best advice. and all that they offer.

then why dont google, yahoo, and other reputable sites charge the same, they would cash in with their bigger name and turnover.

to me that says it all, goe with who u trust
