Hi There,

I want to ask a question to you guys. Should motivational seminars be a internal strategy of any company? How many times an organisation should conduct motivational seminar? Please advice:

Your advice will be really appreciated.

Thank You

I assume your question is aimed at larger businesses, as I can't see many small or micro-businesses willing to fund some back slapping sessions and a free jolly for employees.

I'm always a bit cynical of motivational speakers. You need to be a pretty motivated self starter to start a business. Most employees are also going to pretty enthusiastic working for a start up, as I think you need to be if you work in a small company, as the risks of folding are high, and probably salary and perks low

Blue chip companies I worked for in the past relied on management styles to provide employee motivation, which ranged from amazing to I'm leaving, rather than outsourced motivational speakers.

Seen a quite few at networking events, most are interesting, but only a couple stand out as truly motivational. The rest seemed to rechurn common sense and well worn cliches.

I see you offer motivational speaker services, so what's your take and experience? Are you trying to work out a strategy, hence the question? Or is it just general research? Obviously it's not just self promotion

Hi Steve,

I appreciate your comment on my discussions.

I seem you should assume this both for small and large business but patriotically large businesses. I agree with you at start up everyone is enthusiastic but later a bit they could be bored of the same working, same environment and etc. In this case there is always need of some motivation. Motivation can be express in different ways by increasing salary, by increasing status, or by doing motivational events it depends.

Sometimes company management or even boss sit with you and motivate you with different kind of motivational words i personally have experience with this.

I am not here for promotion but i am excited to see the views of different people around this form what they actually seem about all this.

As per my experience it should be integral part of the organisation because employees are internal customers of any organisation if they are happy self motivated then they can convince external customers as well.

Whether small, medium, or blue chip companies need to conduct motivation seminars whether annually or twice a year. I don't speak to every company but most companies I've attended to they usually have that motivation seminars for at least once a year. It is beneficial to employees same as with people who are encourage to join. It lifts their spirit up and gives them more hope. The motivational speaker should be someone that can connect to the audience so it will be a successful seminar.

I appreciate your comment and i do agree with your points. Motivation always lift the moral of employees and it give a new power to them. I believe their should be motivational seminar twice in the year because 6 months are a long time period.

Thank You

I too have worked for some large organisations (Commercial Union before its buy out) to one man band insurance brokers.

Ive always had the same attitude no matter where i worked - that was to work hard and give my all. The rewards usually came year end in my pay packet.

I was lucky enough to go on a few jollies with my last company and also a few motivational days - have to be honest loved the jollies, (racing cars, clay pigeon shoots), but i was never in favour of the motivational days & it didnt inspire me to do any better for the company.

Maybe I was one of the rare few that just loved their job and jumping up & down with a room full of strangers chanting do better, just wasnt my thing.....

Clive

Hi Clive,

Yes you are the one of the rare who love their job, who wants to work but i assume not every employee of company would not be like you. May be not in your company but people around your family, friends would always motivate you.

I like your spirit towards job.

Thank You,

Thanks,
