Bloggers - do you need more comments on your blog items? 20th May 2010 12:53 PM Hi Tomsk What's "anchor text" plse and how do you add it to blogs? Hope lots of ppl will want to join the co-commenting group - is there any way of extending the invite across to all mlf contributors plse? Tell me plse which of your blogs you'd like me to comment on; and then return the favour. Now I'm up to the magic 10+ posts, I can add my site details - see below. Not sure how to do the link though - is this something the moderator does, plse? site: Welcome to Careers Partnership (UK) | Careers Partnership (UK) blog: Blog | Careers Partnership (UK) More Visitors Please! 20th May 2010 12:40 PM More .... What works for me when I'm thinking about key words (and have checked the traffic on them) is to go to P1 Google and investigate the top-ranking sites not paying for adwords. I use the cache tool to find out how many repetitions of my key words they use and then try to assess the overall strengths and weaknesses of the site (how good it looks, how well-financed it seems to be, what PR it has, etc). Sometimes this approach works - and sometimes it doesn't! More Visitors Please! 20th May 2010 12:29 PM Getting more visitors and enquiries from our web site is a major concern of mine too. I followed the route recommended by Malok - it changed my original thinking and put me on the right track. Bloggers - do you need more comments on your blog items? 20th May 2010 12:13 PM Hi Tomsk If you give me the url of the business blog you'd like me to post a comment on, we'll give this a try. Linda Bloggers - do you need more comments on your blog items? 20th May 2010 9:59 AM I do! I was wondering whether we could agree a fair exchange - I add a relevant, helpful commnt to your blog picking up on its key words, you then do the same for mine. The new bits will "refresh" both our blogs (so Google will like us more) and needn't take more than 5 minutes per item. A journalist who's been blogging in my area of work - career guidance, job search support, outplacement and workplace problem-solving - for a year warned me there'd be few "natural" visitor comments on my blogs (Claire said they visit, take what information they need to sort out their own pressing career / job problems and then shoot off again). She's been right. If you like the idea of co-commenting, then plse get in touch and I'll put together something suitable for your blog. Please reciprocate on mine (I'll soon be up to the 10 posts mark and will then be able to legitimately mention my blog and site urls. By the way, you won't see any comment appearing on the site until after I've okayed it - this is an anti-spam precaution. Career Advice 19th May 2010 1:46 PM Winning a promotion when you've less than 2 years in the job is as unlikely as winning a lottery prize ... it might happen but probably won't. And right now, most employers won't be handing out pay rises too quickly either. Taking on high prestige, high visibility extra duties (eg writing for your company web site, mentoring new starters, etc) could improve your promotion prospects for the future though. I want a new life !! 17th May 2010 1:50 PM Hi Would strongly recommend you contact your local Business Link if you've not already done so. Apart from (usually free) business training, they often provide some free mentoring from business / finance professionals (useful for moral support as well as advice) and free entry into local networking groups. We found the quality of the help provided was variable (from excellent to not particularly good) and the general helpfulness of staff couldn't be bettered. |
