How to Assemble Gas Lift Beds 20th August 2024 6:24 PM

Assembling Gas Lift Beds can be quite easy if you know what you’re doing, and better, if your chosen bed gurus know what’s best for you. Here at The Bed Village Yorkshire, making sure you have the best quality beds and achieve the highest comfort possible is our mission. Our products ensure that is of the highest quality, including our instructions to build your beds. All made easy, all made-hassle free.

Since your loyal and committed Bed Villager have chosen the Ottoman Gas Lift (great choice, by the way), we shall continue to provide more than the delivery we made just at your doorstep and help you assemble that amazing space-saving bed before you.

Gas Lift Beds: Quick Overview

Before anything else, let’s have a quick overview of what a Gas Lift Bed is and which types of beds use a gas lifting mechanism. A Gas Lift bed uses a piston lift and hydraulics mechanism to raise the entire surface of the bed, revealing an extra storage space. Gas Lifts are typically used by an Ottoman storage bed, which you can custom order from our catalogue too.

A Gas Lift Bed has two main types:

End Gas Lifts (Footboard raise)Side Gas Lifts (Open from the Side)How to Assemble Gas Lift Beds

In assembling our products, you don’t need more than a screwdriver, a spanner, and the parts, which will be delivered right to your doorstep. Before you start, just some quick safety precautions we implore you to observe.

Safety Precaution: Clear the floor for assembling

First, make sure all your posh and expensive items are clear from any heartbreak (and literal break, like glass shattered break). This will also help you ensure you do not cause any unwanted accidents and bumps to yourself or others.

Safety Precaution: Clear all children from the area

Obviously, all our items and products must be handled by adults who are capable of using tools that can be sharp or choking hazards. Make sure all children are clear from the area before you begin using sharp objects and choking hazards.

There are more safety precautions you should check to ensure you are safe, your loved ones are safe, and your beloved comfort companion product is safe.

Safety Precaution: Wear appropriate clothes and get a partner

A Gas Lift Bed works with pistons, which can be dangerous if not installed incorrectly as it can slam shut on your fingers. To prevent any instances, make sure you wear proper footwear and get an assembling partner to do the lifting and installing with you. Two hands are better than one!

Assembling: Lay out the parts and screws

A Gas Lift bed needs a screwdriver, spanner, screws, and steel bars/rails that support the piston’s lever movement. Make sure all your parts are complete as stated in the leaflets provided and all the screw holes have the corresponding number of screws.

Assembling: Screw the rails on each side of the hollow frame

Each set of steel bars needs to be screwed into each side of the hollow frame of the Ottoman Divan. Make sure the rails create a triangular shape, with the angle facing towards the headboard to make the lifting efficient.

Assembling: Screw the Piston on the top rail and secure the surface metal frame

The top bar or rail that connects to the surface of the bed frame holds the piston in place. Make sure to screw in the piston tightly on its body to the bar on the surface of the inside.

When the piston is in place, get your partner and lift the metal frame that will serve as the bed’s surface and secure the metal frame with screws on the rails.

Assembling: Attach and Clip the Ottoman bases together

An Ottoman Divan Bed with a Gas Lift is typically two hollow wooden bases that need to be clipped and screwed together. After you attach the pistons, position the bases and clip them together. Afterward, secure the clips by screwing in the 100mm bolt underneath the edges of the bases.

Assembling: Attach and secure the headboard and footboard

Make sure you attach the headboard and footboard last when all the pistons and the wooden base are secured. Use the 100mm bolts and screw them from the back of each board to the screwholes on the bases parallel to it.

Finishing: Place the strap on the footboard

When you are sure that the piston lifting is working, finish the process by attaching the strap to the footboard of the metal frame. This will allow you to lift the surface of the bed whenever you need to use the storage underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Now that you’re done assembling your Gas Lift Bed (or still have questions because you’re scared to begin), let’s see if you have any concerns that have already been answered by our team of bed specialists.

Are Gas Lift Beds heavier?

Yes, Gas Lift Beds are typically heavier as their frames are bulkier and the hollow wooden base is sturdier. This is to make sure that the piston lift does not fail when you need to lift a heavy mattress.

Can I assemble a Gas Lift Bed on my own?

We do not recommend doing this on your own. As you can see from the parts (if you’re just browsing and haven’t bought one yet), the frame is large and it needs to be lifted and screwed in. One set of hands definitely cannot both lift and screw in the frame. It is best to do this with two or more people.

Do I need more tools to assemble a Gas Lift Bed?

You will only need a screwdriver, and a spanner. Then, of course, all of the bed parts. So you don’t need many tools to do this. We also do our best to deliver the parts in convenient sizes right at your doorstep. So that all you need is a partner, some appropriate clothes, and a safe space.

How to Assemble Divan Beds 20th August 2024 6:22 PM

Divan Beds are one of the space-saving and practical options best fit for small spaces. It has extra storage space strategically placed in the hollow wooden space beneath the bed with typically two to four drawers.

The Bed Village Yorkshire offers a variety of options for Divan Beds, including the Sleigh Pink Divan for those who prefer colourful and attractive sleeping quarters and the more sleek and minimalist Kensington Divan. Here, we value the best service for the best price—our service is not one to sleep on. If you’re looking to spruce up your bedroom and declutter your space (and your brain) by ordering The Bed Village Yorkshire’s Divan, this is your guide on how to do it yourself.

Before Assembling Divan Beds

If done right, a Divan bed can be assembled within five minutes. The preparation for any kind of construction or assembly is just as important a step as actually doing it. Here are important reminders to keep in mind before you begin:

Check the Contents

When we ship the Divan right over to your home, the packaging is more than just a chore to get rid of—it contains the protected Divan bed itself. Before attempting to assemble the Divan, make sure you have a flat-head screwdriver and the parts needed to connect the headboard to the base.

Ready the Room

In assembling the Divan, it is best to ensure that all parts are ready. When this is done, it is time for you to ensure the place where the bed will grace the room is ready. Try to clean up the bed’s area, and remove unnecessary items (or important items) that can be stuck within or below the bed once it is assembled. Get a rug underneath for easier clean-up and worry less about the mess.

While preparing for assembly, make sure you begin as close to the desired location of the bed as possible, to avoid any wasted effort in moving an already assembled Divan.

Ready your Hand-held Tools

The Bed Village Yorkshire’s Divan bed is easy to assemble by hand. Ready all your tools that are hand-held and do not use any type of power tools or hard metal tools on the parts to avoid irreversible damage. Assembling the Divan Bed only requires a screwdriver. Layout all the tools that you need to firmly and sturdily build that Divan bed without any confusion about where you placed this tool or that part.

Safety Reminders in Assembling Divan Beds

One more thing before you begin—best not to skip this part of the article—your safety is a luxury. As a pioneer of being cradled in comfort and safety (much like our Sleigh Beds and Orthopaedic Mattresses), the last thing we want is any accidents that can harm you or your loved ones. Here are some safety reminders before you begin:

Find a Lifting Mate

Some of the parts are not the same as those chairs you stacked and lifted after Sunday church. A bed has heavy parts that are not meant for one person to carry as you are liable to injure yourself. It is best not to do this on your own and find somebody who can split the load with you, but if you do not have a choice, lift with your legs, not your back!

Assemble Divan Beds on a Flat Surface

Assembling on a hill is not ideal. Much like the Orthopaedic Mattress, a bed should be dependable and good for your spine and posture. The best way to do this is to ensure your Divan bed is assembled symmetrically, by assembling it on a flat symmetrical surface.

Keep Children Safe

Some of the parts may be choking hazards or simply too dangerous for children to be using. Ensure that only adults are present when the work is being done.

Check for Defects

Do not assemble this bed if any of the parts are missing or defective. This also goes for the tools you will be using, do not use any tool that is not maintained properly or is visibly a hazard to use. Once you have finished assembling, double-check if there are no missing parts and if the Divan is sturdy enough for weight to avoid accidents or injury.

Assembling the Divan Beds

Right then, now the work shall begin. Let’s get to assembling your dream Divan that will certainly blow your mind away (only an expression, of course). Are you ready for a comfortable and practical sleeping experience that will take away your clutter and your midnight blues? The Bed Village Yorkshires, assemble.

Remove the packaging

Get moving on the packaging and remove all the corner protectors carefully. They are placed there for a reason, so don’t hurt yourself when removing them.

Curved and Straight Corners

We don’t know if you noticed, but there are two huge wooden blocks in front of you. Those are the Divan bases. You are to place those wooden blocks against each other, with the curved corners facing the outside and the straight corners facing the inside.

Flip the Bases to add the feet

When the bases are facing the right side parallel to each other, flip them over. There should be up to eight screw holes, four on each side of each base to add the feet.

Insert Gliders and U-Clips

On each of the eight screw holes, securely insert one glider per hole. There should be eight gliders in your parts. Lightly tap on each glider without hammering it all the way. Once this is done for all eight, get the two U-Clips and apply them on the heads of two gliders parallel to each other.

Once the U-Clips are in place, hammer the glider all the way. Use a rubber mallet or a non-marring hammer to secure the glider without damaging the Divan base. Flip the Divan bed and ensure it does not wobble when pressure is applied to it.

Affix the Headboard of the Divan Beds

When the base is secure, take the two headboard bolts and screw in the headboard at the head of the base. You may need to find the holes behind the fabric and pierce it with your screwdriver first. When it is stable, secure your Divan in the desired location. Make sure to sanitise the bed before applying the finishing touches. Here are also 11 tips on how to take care of your Divan Bed.

Gas Lift Beds? Can Gas and Bed come together? We know, it can be an unusual name, but hear us out! They are quite clever and useful for those of us who are saving space in our flats and bedrooms. For those of you who are familiar with Ottoman Beds and Divan Beds, they run on Gas Lifts (actually Ottomans do, Divans are made of drawers, but you get the point).

Like in our catalogue of Ottoman Beds, there are two types of lift beds, ones from the footboard and ones from the side. There are also some cautionary tips before you operate a Gas Lift Bed. All that, we will explore in this article. So get comfortable (pun intended) and more comfortable if you have a Bed Village Yorkshire bed (thanks for that!)

Gas Lift Beds: What, Why, and How

First, let’s know what exactly are Gas Lift Beds and what kind of beds have them, why they are made (for what purpose we mean, not a philosophical assessment of the existence of Gas Lift Beds), and how they work.

What are Gas Lift Beds?

Gas lift beds are the foundational principles of an Ottoman Bed, using hydraulics and piston lifts. Gas lifts make beds act as extra storage, making the entirety of the bed’s surface open and available for your extra items. It allows you to declutter your room without needing extra space for a wardrobe. Gas lifts are the ones we should thank for space-saving alternatives.

There are typically two types of Gas Lift Ottoman Beds, which are:

End Gas Lifts (Footboard raising function)Side Gas Lifts (Open from the Side)

Explore our Ottoman Storage Beds with the Gas Lift mechanism in our online catalogue at The Bed Village Yorkshire website.

Why do we make Gas Lift Beds?

Gas Lift Beds are made for those of us who live in our humble abodes and are neat freaks who need to do some decluttering. Gas Lifts of Ottoman Beds also provide a bigger storage space than drawers of Divans, so if you have more extra stuff, then this is perfect for you.

How do Gas Lift Beds work?

Gas Lifts use the same principle as a piston system and hydraulics, only smaller and more compact. Essentially, it’s similar to truck brakes in using oil, piston, and air pressure from hydraulics to cause movement. This allows you to lift the bed easier and make it feel lighter.

Safety Reminder in using Gas Lifts

A piston hydraulic spring can be a danger in the wrong hands. Make sure to read and understand this part carefully to not cause any harm to yourself or your loved ones.

Do not close by pushing on one side

We understand there are lazy days when we just don’t want to make much of an effort. Those amazing lazy Sunday afternoons may be fun, but always stay alert when using a Gas Lift Bed. Do not lazily push it on one side or area using one hand. Always use the handle or the rope, depending on your model.

Keep the mattress when opening

Be careful when you open the bed without a mattress, as the hydraulics are designed to push off a little more weight, and if you remove the mattress, you may receive a slap on the face with a metal or wooden frame.

Be gentle

As with everything else, be gentle in using the gas lift bed. Make sure none of your children or fur babies have any hands or feet (or worse, heads) stuck on the frame before you close. Try not to carelessly apply your strength or pressure when closing or opening. Being gentle is a must.

Are Divan Beds Better For Your Back? 20th August 2024 6:17 PM

As we all know (and if you don’t), Divan Beds are famed for their signature hollow base that serves as drawers for extra storage. When space is tight, Divan Beds offers storage solutions, maximizing space in bedrooms lacking sufficient room. As space-saving furniture, the Divan Bed is a quality and effective product. But is a Divan Bed effective as a dependable cradle for your back?

Are Divan Beds good for your back? If they are, how much of an upgrade are they from our classic and dependable standard bed frames? Luckily for you, you came to the right place! Here at The Bed Village Yorkshire, we are committed to your absolute comfort that is sustainable and good quality. Through beds that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible.

Let’s explore how a Divan bed can be an upgrade from our catalogue of quality frames.

What are Divan Beds?

Newcomers, let’s delve into what a Divan Bed entails before you become loyal Bed Villagers. A Divan Bed is one of the space-saving beds that has extra storage underneath. Usually two to four drawers on its side.

Our Divan Beds here at The Bed Village Yorkshire are in a variety of styles and sizes. We also have a catalogue of Divan Beds here at The Bed Village Yorkshire.

Divan Beds for better backs

If the title didn’t already give it away, then yes a Divan is typically better for your back, especially one made by The Bed Village Yorkshire. We make sure all our products are of the best quality and the swiftest delivery right at your doorstep. Now we make sure all our products are catered towards your absolute comfort and health, but getting a Divan with its whole hollow wooden frame is quite the upgrade for almost the same price.

Divan Beds need to have a stronger frame

Since a Divan bed has a hollow base for space, and also has to support drawers inside its frame, then the frame that holds it all together must also be thicker and sturdier than a regular frame. It is usually built as a whole, with the headboard and footboard (and sometimes, the drawers) being the only ones kept separate.

A solid, whole frame makes the mattress firmer

Since the base of the Divan Bed is a whole unit, it makes the mattress feel firmer. For those of you who are here because you have been getting frequent back pains when you wake up, then getting a Divan Bed frame might be a better option for you.

Divans can come in orthopaedic kinds

Much like our selection of orthopaedic mattresses and memory foam mattresses, a Divan bed can also be customised as an orthopaedic frame that can better handle your orthopaedic mattress. Thanks to our personalisation options, you can make your bed into any design, style, or extra functions you may need. Simply chat with our bed specialists on our website and tell us exactly what you need and the budget you have.

Bonus: A Divan’s extra customisable features

More than the frames and mattresses, a Divan’s (and The Bed Village Yorkshire’s) signature attribute is its flexibility to customisation and personalisation. More than just adding drawers and changing the headboard and footboard styles, we can make the Divan as healthy for your back as you want it to be, just make sure you contact our bed specialist through our website.

Why does my bed make my back hurt?

Our beds are our nighttime companions. Not only are they simple furniture, but they are our haven after a tiring day at work.
