As a first time buyer I'm not a expert on some of these matters for a homebuyer survey and have not yet completed my purchase, but GB Residential Surveys provided what I considered was a really thorough assessment of the house I was buying. They provided loads of detail and pictures across the property, and practical solutions to address the issues raised. They were always communicative and took time to have a debrief conversation after the survey was completed talking through their report and answering any questions I had.

Booking of the survey is smooth. The survey report only took 3 days after the survey and it's comprehensive and with recommendations given. The wordings used in report are easy to understand. Surveyor Gary is eager to offer a phone call to explain the key points and any questions that I may have. Will recommend Gary's service without a doubt.

We cannot recommend Gary highly enough for the service he has provided. His report from the survey was prompt, detailed and clear. He offered a follow-up call straight away to discuss the issues raised and really took the time to translate into layman's terms the outcomes from his investigations.
In addition, and above and beyond the service we were expecting, Gary has remained available to us to check in and discuss issues as we try to find a solution with our seller regarding a quite significant concern that Gary had discovered at the property and detailed in his survey report.
In essence, Gary had saved us from being exposed to huge financial risk and continues to support us moving forward - we really cannot fault the service he has provided and remain so grateful for his input.

This is the second time I've hired Gary to do a survey, and I'm just as happy as the first time. I certainly hope it won't be necessary, but I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire him a third time. His work was exceedingly thorough and incredibly picky. He tried REALLY HARD to find problems with the house we're purchasing; fortunately, he was only able to find minor issues, but I'm sure if there had been bigger problems, Gary would have found them. (He found all sorts of issues in the first house he surveyed for me.)

Gary was professional and friendly and great to deal with. He provided a very thorough and detailed L2 survey report just a couple of days after his visit and also offered a phone call to go through the report with me, where he clearly outlined all the key things to be aware of and answered all my questions, no matter how small or daft! I almost put four stars above, in the "value for money" tickbox. Almost. But I couldn't bring myself to do so. The surveys Gary did for me were worth every pound. Gary was absolutely perfect in every way you want a surveyor to be: thorough, communicative, detailed, honest, kind, and happy to answer any and all questions. It was also a plain ol' pleasure talking to him. If you're hesitating due to cost, put his fee into the context of what you're buying. I doubt it will seem quite so expensive.

My experience of this company was brilliant from start to finish. From my initial correspondence with Martin to Gary’s excellent report at the end, all dealings with them were totally professional. Gary provided a very comprehensive and detailed report which provided us with so much useful information and it was very easy to understand, which was needed as first time buyers. He also followed up with a telephone conversation which again, was very useful. I would highly recommend Gary and the whole company.

Gary Bates was first class...he set up the survey via the estate agents carried out the survey on the date he stated, at all times Gary kept us updated on the progress of the survey
The survey was carried out quickly and we were sent an in-depth survey complete with full descriptions and accompanying photographs

Buying a new build comes with the reassurance of a warranty and a fair expectation that the property you buy will be build to a good standard.
That said, as a first time buyer spending an alarming amount of money on a home and very much aware of some horror stories about new build properties, there was no way my partner and I were going to trust our own instincts or the word of a developer that our property wasn't hiding any nasty surprises further for us down the line.
As a result we enlisted Gary for piece of mind and the opportunity to get a definitive list of snags together to address with the developer.
Gary did a thorough and painstaking job, documenting everything as he went, and presenting an extensive report at the end. While there were some things we had spotted, Gary identified some things, such as they way some cladding had been attached to the front of our house, that we would never have spotted.
The result was a significant reduction in the anxiety of buying a new home, and a higher quality result as we identified and were able to remedy the issues Gary found with the developer. We highly recommend his services, and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Gary is fantastic very professional and enthusiastic. Has made me feel a lot more comfortable with our ongoing purchase of a property. The report was very informative and Gary's follow up phonecall and debrief was extremely valuable with a good analysis of the property. Solutions and improvements were also discussed which was fantastic and has also made me feel right at home. ( well not yet but hopefully soon)

Gary was very professional and punctual in a homebuyers survey that he completed for us in the agreed time scale, he took care of everything from arranging access to the property via the estate agents and then we received an incredibly detailed report within 3 days of the site survey that was easy to read and understand then Gary took the time to speak to us on the phone a few days later to clarify any questions we had that was a really useful touch for us both .
