The staff in the main are friendly, calm, efficient and helpful.
Now and again they have to deal with the rudest customers making demands, shouting about rights and service etc. In fact having been to the office almost 3 times a week for the past 12 years I have found nothing but a welcoming smile or at least a polite and friendly hello. It really is not their fault if you do not bring the documents it states on the card(which some swear blind they never received) and they've have probably heard every single excuse going.
Yes mistakes are made but I doubt it the fault of the person behind the desk or even the postie.
We are a small island and although not everyone knows everyone, as some would have you believe, the postie is still the centre of many communities.
They deserve support and understanding and if the service is less than you expect just say so, do not throw the toys out of the pram. No problem is unsurmountable.
Please note that during Covid-19 crisis they are STILL dropping your post though your letterbox. Maybe, no definitely, a moment of applause for them as well....

Firstly there are a lot of mainline companies that will not deliver to the IOW; check some of the eBay shops as a start. Some time ago we completed a ‘safe place’ ; for items that won’t go through letter box, mine has never been used; apart from one brilliant postman. After enquiring at the desk, I was told it was down to the postman. Having mobilty problems and having to get to the sorting office is a nightmare, when you do get there most of the customer parking spaces have been reserved by ‘Royal Mail Managers’. Finally prices for parcels over 2kg, just ridiculous; I now use other couriers who do just a good job for half the price. The Royal Mail must be losing ‘millions’.

My daughter posted a box of fresh orchids at the Petersfield post office on the 12th December. They we're sent 1st class for a next day delivery. It is now Sunday 16th and to date still not arrived. I have to say that if they arrive in the next couple of days they would be more than likely dead. How a medium-sized parcel can go missing in these days of automation is beyond me.

I have since moving to iow had problems with mail going missing, so now I have a call and collect services hoping this would inprove the service. I have many times had post go missing only to turn up some weeks later with no explanation or real apology. there mananger a Martin Gulliver has stopped taking my calls, so now I find myself writing this. I have been reassured that it?s inmposdible for them to loss my post or miss deliver it as it does not leave the sorting office, but again today I have been given post which is not for me. This is 3 letters for someone in another town on the island and one for an address in a different street to me. My point is..if they can give me other people?s post they are more than capable of giving MY POST to others, yet they still don?t want to admit or sort this on going issue out.

The Newport isle of wight royal mail depot seems to be incapable of delivering the post you are expected, it stands no chance of delivering customer service on top. Redelivery had been organised for an alternative address as I would not be in. They still tried the original address. This is simple incompetence.

I walked all the way to Royal Mail at Riverway, Newport from Carisbrooke to complete a form so that post that would not fit through my letterbox would be delivered to my next door neighbour 2 - 3 weeks ago.
Today I find a card inside my door stating that they have taken an urgently needed package back to their office for collection.
What is the point? How difficult is this, it is not rocket science.
The Royal Mail just get worse and worse.
Customer Services tried to ring them for me and got no answer at all, so how are we supposed to get through.
Totally useless!
