In recent years, tax offices have either merged with local Job Centre Offices, closed, or are now dealt with by a central office. You can contact HMRC by calling direct by phoning the relevant department, the official numbers are all listed below.
The HMRC helplines tend be extremely busy, so it is advisable to try and steer clear of normal peak calling times like lunchtime or late afternoon.

Contacting HMRC
If you need to contact HMRC then below are some useful numbers. 0300 numbers are local call rate and form part of any inclusive minutes including mobile, BT or other fixed line providers.
Remember to have any required documents to hand, and be patient as waiting times can be 30 minutes or more in busy periods.
