Oh what a night.... 21st November 2015 8:58 PM

Well so far so good as far as the clutch is concerned, after receiving the report, I sent an invoice to the mobile mechanic, gave him 10 days to settle although would have accepted the amount he charged me had he offered. No such offer came, so I did file a county court claim after also contacting Essex trading standards. Anyway he then filed a defense and made a counter claim for £350.00 to cover letter writing, court attendance etc which he had to pay a court fee to do so. The court then sends both parties another form asking whether we'd like to settle through arbitration rather than a court appearance and also asking what evidence / witnesses we will be bringing to court, this has to be sent back to court by a certain date, well I sent mine, he never sent his, he was then given another opportunity telling him his defense would be struck out if he didn't comply. Well he never did send it back so, without even getting to court, the defense has been struck out of court along with his counterclaim.... My understanding is, is that now all I have to do is ask for a judgement..... And then send the bailiffs as I cannot see me getting paid regardless of any judgement...

Next in court will be the boiler manufacturer, will be glad to see the back of this year....

Bond.. Have you seen it yet? Thoughts? 20th November 2015 2:08 PM

Can honestly say, I have never seen a Bond movie since it was played by Sir Roger Moore. I guess its a bit like Dr Who and who was starring in it during your youth Jon Pertwee in my case, everyone who played  the part after him was never as good. But no one could beat Connery at being Bond, not entirely sure how any modern day Bond can be associated with previous Bonds, considering the author of Bond died in 1964....

THE HOGGING OF THE LANES ON MOTORWAYS 20th November 2015 1:52 PM

Like Steve, took my test in the Army 36 years ago at 17 years of age, 8 weeks intensive driving course HGV3 test first driving a Bedford MK, having passed that, spent 1/2 a day passing the normal driving test in a Land Rover, in the afternoon went onto the M4 for a spell of motorway driving, 2 days later I was learning to drive a Foden for my HGV 2 and a week later a Scammel for my HGV1...... have never driven a lorry since leaving the army apart from when I was asked if I'd drive a carnival float once...

Always wanted to be a coach driver though, no idea why just did.... I think the way I drive now the passengers would be begging me to let them off, saying they'd prefer to walk...

Well don't go to Asda's on black Friday as they've cancelled it which suits me just fine....

Health Tip 5th November 2015 1:26 AM

Great news, means I can tuck into cinnamon donuts without fear of gaining any weight

Happy Halloween 30th October 2015 2:41 PM

Love Halloween, I look forward to being pestered at the front door for trick or treat, normally end up with eggs chucked at the front window when I tell them where to go This year any callers will be doing the ice bucket challenge...... Although they don't know it yet

Having my lunch in my van, when an Indian wearing a turban approaches me carrying a clipboard and waves some kind of identity card at me.... So I unwind the window to listen to him, apparently he's Islington's official fortune teller! And I'm very very lucky..... Obviously he doesn't read this forum... So sent him on his way

Hello John

I'm guessing they can give the job to whoever they want providing the applicant has the relevant qualifications to carry out the job competently. I know it might sound a bit of a raw deal but just because you have been given a role in an acting capacity doesn't mean you will get it permanently. It happens all the time in the forces including the police service one month you'll be an acting police sergeant the next month you'll be rank and file... The good thing is normally the role is given permanently at a later date. Personally I would keep quiet about it rather than making a fuss and making a grievance complaint at this stage and see how things turn out... Though having just re-read your post, if as you say your sister has been in an acting role for 30 months I'd be inclined to ask her line managers how the reached their decisions.....

Been with the Halifax since I was in shorts... Just a lot of hassle and inconvenience trying to change for no other reason than trying to gain another 0.0001% interest from another bank.
