Google Glass 23rd April 2014 6:35 PM

Google Glass is awesome (IMHO)! Moreover, wearable devices will be a part of our life in the nearest future, like tablets, e-ink books etc. By the way, I currently experiment with UX/UI design for Google Glass: trying to understand how to build comfortable apps for them. I also left the request for Glass at http://www.google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one/))

I think that we can already use them, but society isn't really ready for this technology. Remember, how people felt when cell phones started to take pictures and shoot video.

Did you guys get anywhere with this, or anyone else showed any interest in guest posting?

I know there has been a lot of recent debate around guest posting, and Google in it's infinite wisdom is now penalising sites with perceived poor quality or off topic posts.

Interesting reading from this recent Search Engine Land article:

How A Single Guest Post May Have Gotten An Entire Site Penalized By Google

Has this changed your mind to guest posting, or made you rethink?”

Unfortunately, we haven't got anywhere Recently, I found out that Google punishes for such activity, so I would like to correct my proposition. Let's write original stories for each other.

For e.g., I write a unique article for someone, and someone writes for me. I think it will work)

Thanks,

Ivan

OK, great article. I'm sure it will add value to our business advice collection.

Our article about Analytics should be ready over the weekend.

Great! By the way, I think articles about legal issues for business owners will be a great source of information for my readers too.

Hi,

That is an amazing idea! I am wondering if you would like to have something like "5 Things you dind't know about Google Analytics"?

Let me know what you think.

Yes, sounds good. Drop me this article and illustrations at ivz@ivzsolutions.com
I can suggest you this article "Finding the Right Mobile App Development Company", but you can pick up anything you like.

Mobile apps. Are they worth it? 5th March 2014 2:59 PM
About Government based organisations: usually their budget for IT-strategy is small, and person who controls a process of development doesn't personally interested in the end result. The same is fair for some large corps, because they lost a common touch of private property and team playing, and they are close enough to Governmental orgs by their behavior.

I hope more companies and orgs will change, and their websites too.

Agree with you again! I can't believe it when I see business with new websites that aren't responsive or come across an e-commerce platform that doesn't have one!

I know, but a lot of things depends from a budget, but small business has a lot of choices of different platforms lately, so there are no excuses !
Hi Everyone!

I had searched the forum and noticed that a lot of people are in favor for guest posting. I may assume that majority of us have blogs. I think we can help each other by writing unique articles for each other.

We can set an approach for a content. For instance, I will be happy to publish articles about SEO for SME, SMM, and other digital marketing instruments; about life hacks for business people. Actually, about everything what can be related to small and medium-sized business.

I can write about mobile apps, web apps, about UX/UI design and how they can be applied in a certain industry.

Agree with you 100% on the first one.

With the second one, we were considering developing an app for ourselves, so once we saw there wasn't the appetite for it among the majority of our customers there wasn't much point doing anything else.

Research needs to be the bedrock of so much marketing activity but unfortunately sometimes it seems to get sidelined, especially by SMEs.

Now I got you

I've noticed that more and more SMEs start to use simple marketing research lately, because it becomes affordable. Especially guys from IT sphere are fans of it

By the way, this is not a secret that in the nearest future such things as laptops and desktops will be used only for work, meanwhile mobile platforms will replace them. Regular user will use two kind of apps: mobile and web apps.
Mobile apps. Are they worth it? 5th March 2014 12:31 PM
Absolutely!

About salesmen: these guys were looking for investors, but they didn't do the main thing- the research (ask people if they need it). They didn't validate their app idea properly, instead they invested in development own cash. After, they were trying to charge people for thing that they don't even need. It's venture business style

I think, your second company did the right way(I mean initial research), but sometimes it's worth to show your clients some sketches, mockups, because they don't know exactly what you are going to do. You don't know exactly if you want something until you see it.

My approach is that an app that you are going to develop must be approved by your potential clients.
Design vs Service question 7th February 2014 7:48 PM
Hello Rachel, welcome aboard.

I think it depends on the type of business and where they generate their customers from, unless you are specifically talking about online businesses.

For a website, design is critical, but I think it's the technical design of a site and optimisation that's the most crucial as this is how a site is found and generates visitors. Once onboard, the visual design then kicks in turning visitors into conversions and hopefully customers.

Obviously traditional avenues and word of mouth are important, as are social media and online reputation management. But from a design point of view, technical followed by graphic.

Just my 5 pence worth and hope it helps.

I fully agree with Steve's comments. First you give visitors opportunity to buy, download, share...and after, you choose the perfect color of buy button.

Dear Rachel,

It's crucial to measure everything on the website. You can start with simple google analytics, to find out basic performance of a website.

If you want to get the full picture of what's going on with visitor on a website then you should use such tools like CrazyEgg, Inspectlet or ClickTale (the coolest one, IMHO).

Good luck
