Glad to hear you got the website taken down.

So moral of the story, persevere, have a moan and you'll get there in the end...

Sad that you had to kick up a big fuss to get them to do anything though. Shouldn't have come to that.

Its a tad worrying one can open up a bank account with someone else companies details

I thought banks did a whole host of background checks?????

Yeah I must admit, it seems like these guys did is pretty easily.

I'd have hoped there were more security checks involved, making it much more difficult for people to do this. But I guess not :S
Mobile is a must.

I run a web design company and whereever possible we will make sure the website we build for our client is responsive (meaning the layout adjusts to the dimensions of the device its being viewed on).

I would recommend against having a mobile specific site as well as a desktop site. Think about it - two places to maintain your content.

With a responsive site, it's one website that works on everything.

Check out authenticstyle[dot]co[dot]uk to see some examples of responsive sites we've built. Our company site is also responsive.

Oh that's terrible! You have my sympathy.

I'm sure once it's sorted you'll bounce back stronger than before. Maybe you can even try to spin it to your advantage and somehow use the story in some advertising... I'm not quite sure how, but there might be a way if you think hard about it.
Hey, good question.

Your best bet is to install WordPress on your server in a new folder (e.g. "blog"), so then people access it at yoursite[dot]com/blog

The only issue you may have (depending on your web design experience) is theming WordPress so that it perfectly matches your main website.

Obviously if suddenly the design changes when a user clicks the "blog" link, that may affect the user experience and confuse your visitor.

You may want to hire a professional (or at least look into the costs) for having someone "theme" the default WordPress installation for you.

Let me know if you've got any questions.
Interesting responses.

I use to spend a fair amount of time on Twitter in particular, but as it grew I started to get overwhelmed by the amount of tweets, so I ground to a halt.

I'm really trying to get back on the case with social media now though, especially Facebook for my business. I try and post something a couple of times a week.
What is your addiction? 4th January 2014 10:43 AM
Great post.

My biggest addiction is my business. Which probably isn't healthy!

Then it's playing squash, the drums and coffee
