The problem with mobile media is, is that you never really get away from work / business I see people constantly tapping out emails at traffic lights, which in turn holds up the traffic as the emailer / texter has no idea the lights have changed, I see cyclists who think it is cool to email / text while riding their bike hands free, I see pedestrians walk into other pedestrians because they are so glued to their ipad or phone, then get disgruntled because they have been disturbed. Yesterday I had a meeting with a client, who spent the first 20 minutes proudly showing me his new iphone. From my point of view it has if anything made people more anti social and far less tollerant of others....

Great for the Olympic games, but after that it will be just another over subsidised form of public transport, unable to cover it's own operating costs without taxpayers money being thrown at it. And a little bit of wind and it will be taken out of service...
I've just bought a new greenhouse, everytime the wife goes outside to build it, it starts to rain, looks like I'm going to have to purchase her some waterproofs..

Not just Londoners, people commute from all parts of the UK to work and trade here, to have Locog tell people "if you must travel into Central London during the Olympic games it is advisable you do during the hours of midnight and 6am"!
These are the people that pay the congestion charge daily (

I don't believe for one minute, that the majority of the country is behind it. 'Jobs for local people' went out the window

Must admit that was funny to see the disabled scooter following, somehow I don't think they should have been there. Anyway as of today there are no more road works allowed in Central London unless of course it is an emergency like a gas or water main leak. They've also started putting down the Olympic driving lanes, currently you can drive in them or as I and other drivers did today just sit in them and watch the boats on the Thames go by. Not sure what is going to happen if there is a breakdown or an accident when these Olympic lanes are in operation, I guess we can just sit there all day and wait for the pick up truck to come along, but as they are not allowed to use the Olympic lanes either I'm not sure how they will get to where the accident or breakdown is, time will tell and no doubt road rage incidents will be hitting the headlines...

Wouldn't it be easier to go to your trade association

Yes it would be easier, but far more expensive. There are around 20 or so plumbing trade associations in the UK all trying to out gun each other, I avoid them all like the plague apart from the one I'm legally obliged to join otherwise it would be like having a second mortgage, just to have a few fancy trade names on my letter heads. Most of these trade associations use companies such as AXA and just cream a percentage of the fee a bit like the supermarkets that sell home and pet insurance, Tesco's are a grocer not an insurance company, but they also buy scrap gold....
Every year when my public liability expires I have to go through the same process, I'm covered for 10million, the insurance companies know what industry I work in (business name kind of gives it away) get one sheet of paper to say the business is covered, get 10 sheets of paper saying what is not covered. The main one being blow lamps Hello we're plumbers and we use blow lamps! Can't work above 4 floors including the basement So this excludes working in the majority of apartments and offices in London!
