There's nothing for it. We'll have to use the remaining stocks of cornflakes for chocolate crispy cakes instead.

*makes a mess*

It looks like they didn't have that much of an option, though.

I've sent you an email explaining in more depth, but in a nutshell: I can spend an hour or so proofreading and correcting your copy, and I usually charge

Well naturally, but what about the website?

Glad to hear it's sorted out.

Not least because now I don't feel like I'm being too hideously inappropriate in saying: if any of you would like a hand with your website copy, just drop me a line.

Perhaps you know what you want to say, but aren't very confident about spelling, punctuation, and grammar? I can tidy up what you've already written. Alternatively, if you'd like some copy written from scratch, I can create guaranteed-original writing for your website without a Ctrl-V in sight. You've all observed the standard of my work right here on the forums.

Blatant sales pitch ends.

Might not be the answer you're looking for, but at first click on the site, I thought "Let's find you a new job" was your tagline.

Unite Union too powerful? 28th June 2010 5:28 PM
I don't think we're quite out of the sweatshop woods... from Christmas 2008: Amazon staff punished for being ill (Times online).

(I got sent this article about fifty times that year as I was doing similar work for a smaller - and thankfully much nicer - internet ordering company that Christmas. I wasn't being exploited, but I really felt for those people.)

I see and accept your point though - there must be better ways for the unions to fight for what's best for their membership without resorting to prolonged large-scale disruption to the public. And it's just as wrong for the unions to ride roughshod over their members as it is for the employers to do it.

Can't say I do, really.

I must drink more water, though. I always have a bottle on my desk, it's just I rarely remember to actually drink more than half of it.

Cos it smells nasty. It's like medicine - the worse it tastes, the better it must be for you*.

Something has been eating my strawberries. I'm very distressed. I put loads of effort into... um... leaving the plants in the ground and letting them get rained on.
