Unfortunately we have been targeted again by the Fake Police Magazine Scam.

They prey on unsuspecting businesses who are actively advertising, offering adverts in Police/Charity/Red Cross Magazines.

It is a complete scam, and they will hound you for money.

If any business is contacted by these vultures, simply put the phone down

I can only apologise to anyone who has recently signed up with our directory, but their favourite trick is contact anyone who shows up as a new business. All of the major directories seem to be getting targeted.

We do not, and have never sold any contact details on. This is a scam.

The orginal scam started with:
Welcome to Weinstein Williams who left a pitful load of cobblers message on their home page, but has been closed down by trading standards.

They have re-emerged as advancedpublications.co.uk

I was pleased to read your message with regard to Streetwise. Just to let you know they are still out there! Had a call from them today offering me the chance to advertise with their magazine which would be distributed to schools, etc etc. apparently they got my number from Federation of Small Businesses this time. Having been scammed with a similar sounding 'company' last year I declined. I was interested to hear about Weinstein Williams as they were heavily involved in the scam last year, pleased they got closed down but thanks for the info that they have re-emerged under a different name! As the saying goes ....... let the buyer beware........ so my advice, having been one of those buyers who got burnt, don't agree to any form of advertising or subsricption from people who cold call you, but if you are interested in what they are saying, get them to email you information about them, I've never had anyone follow up with this info on an email, and if they do, it will give you time to check them out before committing yourself to anything.

What a wonderful world we live in eh???

Thanks again
Chris
