films you enjoy 10th September 2014 10:11 AM

I like a lot of diverse things, the Bond collection pre Daniel Craig, think the latest few are trying too hard to be big action films and thats just not what Bond was about

Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption are classics. More recently Red & Red2.

I find the more hyped a film is the less i seem to enjoy it - not sure why

“...I know i seen a lot of theories from things which are plausible to aliens abducted it..... (apparently 5% of americans believe aliens were involved with the missing plane)... well i guess each to their own  ....

Wasn't that the plot in Millenium from 1989 with Cheryl Ladd? They use to steal bodies off jets before they crashed .... thats a blast from the past!

In all seriousness, lets hope they make a break through soon and everyone can be laid to rest

Tut - call yourself a Royalist !

Ice Bucket Challenge 9th September 2014 3:42 PM

Just seen an old report stating that the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association has reported that during 29/7 - 28/8 is has received $98.2million, compared with $2.7million donated during the same time period last year.

In the UK other charities have benefited too, including my personal favourite Macmillan Cancer Support raising £3million

Seems there is such a thing as a useful chocolate teapot!

Chocolatiers at Nestle have created a teapot capable of sustaining boiling water for 2 minutes to make a "drinkable" brew, albeit tainted with chocolate. As someone who doesnt drink tea, no idea if thats good or bad !?

Next time someone tells you, its about as useful as a chocolate teapot, tell 'um they are wrong

Internet Dating Scam 9th September 2014 10:22 AM

Completely baffled to read that 12 woman have been conned out of £250,000 in an internet dating scam.

Being single and currently on the same site that these woman got conned on, i get asked all kind of weird questions, even get approached by Eastern Europeans looking for a meal ticket to the UK! All requests are  just ignored or if they persist and send me their email addresses, i just block them - its simple.

With all the exposure that these kind of cons get on the internet, would you not get suspicious the moment someone says i need money, especially if you haven't met them, regardless of how long you have been talking, emailing or texting?!

Seems common sense evaporates where "love" is involved.

New Royal Baby on the way! 8th September 2014 4:33 PM

News broke earlier about the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge are expecting another child.

Enough said about that but it got me thinking about previous Royals and the lack of "social illnesses" within the Royal Family.

No one has ever come out and said that they have, or their child has ADHD, dyslexia, autism or the other broad range of new glossy titles for these new fangled "illnesses"

Why is that?

Hamilton win - was it manufactured? 8th September 2014 11:29 AM

Anyone see the F1 yesterday?

Thought it was a brilliant race bit one moment has been replayed over and over, even analysed to death, was that Hamilton/Rosberg move manufactured?

Rosberg did make the same "mistake" on lap 9 when he overshot the chicane when he was 4 or 5 seconds ahead, was that just a practice to send us the dummy for real 20 laps later, or a way of scrubbing time to allow Hamilton to close?

The more i watch it the more sceptical i get. That being said, team orders are allowed so why not just tell the pair to switch on track, without the theatre?

Mercedes have closed ranks on the whole debate of the Spa incident and now this weekend, i dont think until one driver leaves that the truth or the actual punishment handed out by Mercedes 2 weeks ago will be published.

Just been reading up on this as i at first was sceptical as to how this would work and also whether my digits were at risk to thieves!

Seems it only works with "live" fingers so no you wont have your hand or fingers removed by thieves. Well thats until they work out some gruesome way of keeping your finger alive by attaching it to a blood source .....

Also appears to be that your veins remain constant throughout your life, but i thought things like veins could be affected by drugs, both legal and illegal?

My mother had chemotherapy several years ago and they always struggled to find a vein - to this day she cannot have blood taken from the arm the used to put the chemo in, so would this not affect the scanner too?

Chip and pin was reported as the way forward when that was introduced, but very quickly became unreliable as you could give your pin to someone!

Watching this new technology with interest - will it become mainstream?

Politicians still deserve payrise ! 8th September 2014 10:43 AM

Was reading the News on Ceefax last night, this caught my eye - Politicians payrise of 9% to go ahead!

Wow, 9%, £7000 a year ! If i recall Public Sector was told a payrise of 1% was all they could afford - how the hell can they justify that?

Well to be fair, its not the Politicians that set their own pay any more, but it falls to IPSA, who were quoted as saying on Ceefax something along the lines of "MPs deserve this as as their pay as it stands now at £67,000 is a derisory amount!!

Thats it - im off to form a Political Party, get voted in at next Election and start raking in £74,000 per year !!!!

Suggestions for this new party and a name please - as the Monster Raving Loony Party exists, has to be punchier than that !
