Jon Lord, RIP 17th July 2012 7:34 AM
AH no. That is such sad news. The song and band is legend.
Thanks for the input, sorry if I didn't make things clear but Steve is right in assuming that I only have a couple of years left in my current business (medical aesthetics) before European regulations will make my overheads too high for the business to be viable.

The comment that sticks in my mind that this guy made was that "if your idea was profitable someone else would have thought of it already & be doing it". Surely if everyone thought like that there'd be no such thing as entrepreneurs!

Thanks again guys.

That's an idea killer to be sure. I wonder what would have made him such a sour grape. How would he expect you to make any sort of money without taking that chance knowing that you have a good idea in the making, and he's just shooting it all down.

Out of curiosity, did he give you any other ideas / avenues to follow?
I don't think that will happen. Too many people still think its viable to spam link after link on twitter, all for the sake of "marketing". Its going to take a while to get that out of their systems.

Gorky Park - Bang - YouTube

you have to turn the volume up for this one.
In order to secure good rankings for the website it is essential to follow the updates given by Google on a regular basis. The latest update given by Google focuses on the fact that over optimization of the keywords must be avoided. Preferably keyword variations can be used. Moreover it is also important to get good quality backlinks as well that are authoritative and pertaining to your niche.

That has kinda been the guideline since time immemorial. Its because some have been avoiding/neglecting/ or just not caring that these latest updates are being brought out to begin with. (IMHO of course)

There has been a lot of changes in the search engine optimization that was traditionally done and the techniques that must be followed now.Now it is essential to project the right picture of the business in front of the users. It is essential to post content that will be valuable for the users and it is also essential to avoid over optimization. Over optimization will not provide with the right benefit, there must be more focus on the quality and not the quantity.

To be honest, even though Google have changed a lot over the last while, most of the time these changes have been implemented because of abuse. For instance, the keyword meta tag. It has always been important to be honest, and portray a business in the right light. That is what an IM's job is, and if they don't do that from the beginning, then they cannot call themselves an IM. In the end, yes, you are writing for your visitors, so going overboard would be wrong because you're going to be hit by Google, and you will lose visitors because no one can understand what you're saying. Which has been what the focus should have been all along (IMHO).

My favourite OMD one is electricity.... hmmm I don't think I ever left the 80's...

Somehow down the line I got hooked on sugartax, but somehow maid of orleans was the hardest song to track down. kept calling it Joan of arc. Which also seemed to be a song from them

My playlist at the moment would seem to say the same thing about me. Belinda Carlisle, Chicago, Ice House, Level 42, Madness, Carly Simon, Lionel Ritchie, Talk Talk. need I continue? lol

Another classic I seem to be listening to every day is one from OMD - Maid of Orleans. lol some days I really miss the 80's and 90's.
Forgive my ignorance, but if someone has been cooking from a food van for 12 years, why would you only be able to do it for 2? Would you be moving on to a premises like starting a restaurant? Or a new venture entirely?

Being in South Africa, I am unaware of many of the laws you have over there, but I am sure that, if you do your homework, get all your facts and figures together as well as knowing the laws for the specific areas you want to work in, you could get him to listen to you. If you have hard, cold facts that prove you can make a decent profit. He might be right about competition, but if your food is better, or you focus on a type of food there is a demand for that has not been met, you could do really well, and he would have no other choice but see that.

I'm not sure if its because he was free that made him say that. He could have genuine concerns about the business. You would need to persuade him to see what you see.
