Nothing wrong with testing the waters first: make money in a small way first to see if there's a demand. You'll also feel a lot better if you have something to fall back on.

It's terrible that people work for years in a job, living from paycheck to paycheck (and racking up debt to buy junk!). Odds are, something will knock you off your perch sooner or later.
Grants are a niche area where people set up websites offering to help you get access to them, for a fee.

Where would some go to get access to grants directly? Local council? Charities? Or is there a grant search engine out there somewhere?

....

Ha, ha, Googled it:
grant search engine - Google Search

Example:
Grantsnet - UK grants and funding information
what does "can anyone brief" mean?

Probably means "I am a spammer and trying to get my post count up with a generic question".

But I could be wrong
Here are some magic words:

- Cpanel;
- Fantastico;
- Wordpress CMS with a suitable theme and shopping cart plugin (free);
- Forum, directory, classified ad postings but don't bother with low PageRank sites and/or with few posts and/or with spam in them;
- Unique, useful, controversial content;
- Backlinks;
- Backlinks;
- Backlinks.
Ah, so that's the nub of it.

Sorry, I didn't get that.
Sorry, I think I misunderstood.

I thought the OP was getting fed up with a client not giving him enough info to complete a job.

I think people, in their minds, are the stars of their own movies and the rest of us have walk-on parts.

So I follow-up and then wait for them to get back to me. People could be having crises and my concerns might be way down on their list of priorities. I try to put myself in their shoes. What do they want?
Bit late for this, but ...

If they don't call, they don't care.

So, I'd lay off harassing them. Get on with finding other clients. Much more rewarding

And you'll find the first guy will eventually get back to you.

I guess it's down to numbers, as with most things in life.

If she's got even a 'lukewarm' list and she books a few holidays, must be worth it to her boss.

I'd imagine a 5 * hotel is expensive. And who's giving out them 5 stars, anyway? The local tourist board? Their mammy?
Facebook to float for 3rd February 2012 9:36 AM
Hmmmm ... not sure I'd hold onto Facebook stock.

It could easily become the next MySpace, if it tarts up the site with too many ads, for example. Or if the mass mind moves on to something 'cooler'.

If I had a lot of its paper I'd flog it as soon as it floats and buy a medium-sized farm, then rent it out.
SEO is simply a modern form of Advertising and Marketing: getting customers to a business.

As the internet is cutting out barriers between customers and clients, SEO, in some form, will exist.

Historical note: SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimistation. All that used to mean in 1998 was optimising web pages for inclusion in search engines.

In 2012 it's expanded to include SEM, Social Media marketing, Black hat and backlinking etc.
