Beware of employee impostors! 18th September 2017 1:00 PM

All very odd indeed!

Oh well, just another day in the life... Have filed a Trademark infringement, got an automated response saying FB are investigating, so shall see what happens...”

Fair play to FB, they responded quickly over the weekend and removed us an employer of the Facebook profile in question.

Now filed away under bizarre and weird

Beware of employee impostors! 15th September 2017 12:45 PM

I had a very odd phone call yesterday about one our employees in Bournemouth, who was allegedly on drugs, been caught stealing and was clearly an all round bad egg from a "concerned" member of the public.

When I explained we don't have any employees by the name given, plus we don't have an office in Bournemouth, the caller told me that's not what it says on Joe Bloggs Facebook page.

So a 30 second search on Facebook and low and behold we have seemed to gain an employee in Bournemouth

Now I have no idea if this chap is the claimed Mr big of the drugs world, or if he simply dreams of working for such a wonderful company like hours  But it's all a bit odd.

So I thought I would ping Facebook and ask them if they could remove this chaps supposed connection to My Local Services, and started wading through treacle. The way to do it seems is to report a Trademark infringement as he is claiming to work for a company that doesn't.

Oh well, just another day in the life... Have filed a Trademark infringement, got an automated response saying FB are investigating, so shall see what happens...

If you happen to gain some employee impostors, the Facebook Page you need is here: Trademark Report Form

Optimism is the least British trait ever though. Sounds far too European!

ha ha, cynical leftie but painfully true

Priorities - juggling the kids 14th September 2017 10:41 AM
I chose to have children and for me bringing them up myself is very important. I want them to be instilled with my values and morals (yes, they’ll be lefties like me )”

Don't get me wrong, one part of me quite likes the idea of a nanny, particularly when the kids are trying to kill each other, plus I have threatened boarding school on more than one occasion  But I agree with you (other than been a lefty!) and we made the decision that we didn't want to be leaving the kids in before or after school clubs while we worked.

Appreciate a lot of people don't have that luxury which is why I think running a business actually gives you more freedom and flexibility when it comes to kids. We're a working family, but I do the school run in the morning while the missus collects after starting her job early.

School holidays tend to be the biggest challenge, managing another companies holiday entitlement. Again this becomes an advantage running your own business.

Curve balls are my biggest headache, kids sickness. It's always when we are the busiest and normally ends up as a coin toss as to who takes the day off

How does anyone else juggle kids and work? Does running a business make it easier or harder?

I think we should keep up the good attitude and carry on with our good work!

I love optimism, well said

I think if I was plumber or a sparky, I'd certainly thinking about getting my details in the final editions. Hard to search on the internet when you've got no power, water cascading through the ceiling and you live in a mobile black spot

Thank You. Nothing seems to have change visitor wise ,but it is early days ... I just need someone to help with on-site SEO now as I did it all myself , but trying to find someone is proving to be a challenge”

Plenty of SEO peeps out there, but depends on your budget. Plenty of sharks as well  Maybe put a project and budget together and put something on a site like getafreelancer.com or similar? Unless you know any zencart user forums who can recommend one.

A first date to tell the grandkids about? 11th September 2017 8:44 AM

Oh my word!

Well I have taken the jump this weekend and fixed (hopefully) the issues suggested + went though all my products and changed images to https ... ”

looking good Andy

Great post today on Marketing Week.

"Research shows Facebook has a “potential reach” of 7.8 million people aged between 18 and 24 in the UK, two million more than actually exist."

So it pays to remain cynical when listening to advertising claims, particularly when presented with stats to convince you to part with your hard earned cash
