Be careful with link exchange, it can drive your traffic to another website. Make sure you are not exchanging link with your direct competitor.
The A, B, C 15th March 2012 8:34 AM
After being married for thirty years a wife asked her husband to describe her.
He looked at her slowly...then said, "You're A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H.... I, J, K."
She asks...... "What does that mean?"
He said, "Adorable, Beautiful, Cute, Delightful, Elegant, Fancy, Gorgeous, Honey.
She smiled happily and said...."Oh, that's so lovely.....
What about I, J, K?"
He said, "I'm Just Kidding!"
His eye is still swollen....but it will get better.........
SEO - how not to do it! 20th December 2011 9:35 AM
Can see 35 external links to your site on Open Site Explorer

Fantastic on getting on the DMOZ, been trying for years and failed miserably!

Not seeing their link showing yet though in the report, so guess it will show up soon if the DMOZ is pretty recent.

Thanks for looking into it, Steve. What is the advantage for being on the DMOZ? It seems everyone recommends it. I haven't found any advantage yet. My site got listed on it last month, do you mean their link pages to my site should show on the Open Site Explorer's report?

A reason for your links not showing up in some places is because your link has not been indexed by Google or various other tools and search engines yet. This basically mean they don't know about the link yet because they haven't visited the site since its been added.

The few big directories that are definitely worth it, is yahoo directory and dmoz.

Thanks for clarification, James. I did random check as per report, I had 700 links added in October and 100 recently, how long do I have to wait before they are indexed by the search engines or other tools?

My site is registered on Dmoz but not Yahoo. Yahoo charges $299 pa.

Well you can always ask for a report of what they have done.
Edit: Just had a quick look using one of my tools: you got 146 links to your site (thats including from your own site as well e.g. internal links) Most of them are directories. So either they did these links very recently and it hasnt updated on my tool or you paid for directories (which isnt really spammy but it isnt worth anything really)

I have all reports with list of 800+ external urls but when I checked on a link checker such as backlinkwatch.com, I can only see 100+ links. I don't quite understand why. My Alexa rank has certainly gone up from 23 million to 800k. What do you mean the directories aren't worth anything, James?

Well that isn't 100% correct.

There are ways but they are called blackhat.. These are spammy types of links. Although its not really instant its a lot faster than normally link building/seo, depending on your competition it can be instant.

This is short term type of seo. Its for quick rankings.

I had seo done on my site, I ordered whitehat seo, but how do I know that the links I get are whitehat not blackhat or spammy links?
anybody ever buy from Aliexpress? 16th December 2011 12:29 PM
What are you going to buy? Let me share you something about the delivery charge.

If the parcel is less than 2KG, you can use China Post.
For example, if the parcel is 2KG, the cost is 14USD. And it take 2 Weeks to UK.

If the parcel is above 2KG, you can use DHL or EMS or you can separate your products into several parcel to use China Post as well after comparing the cost.
For DHL or EMS, we always get good discounts so actually the delivery charge would be reasonable and not be high.

Hope the above information is helpful for you.

anybody ever buy from Aliexpress? 15th December 2011 7:54 PM
HI

Just wandering if anyone here ever buying from Aliexpress?

Just want to make a survey so that we can improve our store as well.

Rebecca

I wanted to buy products from Aliexpress on many occasions but its delivery charge put me off. Many items are also overpriced, even more expensive than UK wholesalers.
