The Edinburgh Trusted Trader SchemeThe City of Edinburgh Council are developing a Trusted Trader Scheme for Local Traders, which is due to launch in June 2015.How does the scheme work?Local traders will be able to apply to join the scheme by completing an online application process. Trading Standards will carry out some initial checks and follow up with a visit to see the applicant in person.Once approved, traders details will be added to the new Trusted Trader directory, giving the potential to reach more than 225,000 Edinburgh households. Members will also be able to use the Trusted Trader Scheme logo on materials and vehicles. Do Traders have to pay to join the scheme?There is an annual fee of £200 + VAT (£240). This covers the vetting of applicants, marketing of the scheme as well as dispute resolution.The Edinburgh Trusted Trader website is now live and you can now apply to join directly from www.trustedtrader.scot. |

In 2011, The Dundee City Council Trusted Trader Scheme carried out a survey of their members with the following findings:
- 93% of respondents confirmed that membership of the Trusted Trader Scheme had helped their business.
- 87% said membership had helped them attract new customers, with 47% stating that 11% to 30% of their business was generated by Trusted Trader membership.
- 1 trader stated that 50% of his trade was due to the Trusted Trader Scheme.
