What is ''...of the month club'' ?

Good day everybody! Salute from Ukraine=)
I'd like to say "sorry" for maybe very simple questions, but I really can't find any information about these "..of the month clubs". Exactly I can't find any data about their principles of working, and just making money at last)
To tell the truth I didn't know about these clubs till I didn't read one topic on business ideas forum.Some guy was talking about opening the jewelery of the month club, but it doesn't matter because I have never seen any analogues of such stores in Ukraine,Russia(except book of the month clubs). In USA you have these clubs with any products, from socks to chocolate=) and we don't((
So, I would be grateful for any useful information about these clubs, as I would like to see them from the view of the entrepreneur.How to open & organize such type of business? What is the difference between them & simple on-line stores?

OK, I just want to learn more about earning money on such web sites as for example Gourmet Chocolate of the Month Club or any other month club. How do they organize trading process etc.

Sorry Alex, I'm struggling to understand what it is you're asking.

Never heard of the "chocolate of the month club", is this an idea you would like to start?

Actually yes. I'd like to start such type of business but in my country (Ukraine). There are a lot of such clubs among USA sites. The main idea of them is that you should pay for example 100$ once. And then u'll receive for example chocolates once a month during whole year usually at exact date. And every month there could be different chocolates, but actually you can't choose,this right belongs to "club administration".
I thought, as this business is so widespread in USA maybe people could know how it works=) But it's OK if you don't, probably they are not so popular as seemed to me...

Ahh, I'm with you now, so it's a bit like wine clubs or cheese clubs, where you pay an annual fee and you get a selection of products throughout the year.

I guess you need to decide which particular product you will specialise in, then build a site and brand around that, and then maybe offer the club as an add on?

So maybe a specialist cheese website, with a normal e-commerce site, and then the cheese club as a spin off?

Yeah, I have a friend who does "sock clubs", where each month you get a new pattern and the yarn to knit it with. Usually there's a preview at the beginning, and at least four out of the twelve items have to seem like they're worth more than the average monthly price.

From the entrepreneur side, it's mostly about convincing people they're getting a good deal. This means things like:
- Previews. Often the "X of the month" is something that won't be available for normal customers to buy as an individual item, or at least not until the year is up.
- Bigger savings for longer-term signups. For instance it might be

Well, thanks a lot everyone for answers=)) Now I'm a bit aware about these clubs. And the main thing that I understood is that this is good kind of additional business if you have smth off-line

Probably, I'll try to create such club in future...
