Hi, I'm currently intrested in making and selling my own stickers, but I'd like to use popular brand names and recognizable images that I can sell to stores. My question is where can I find out which laws and rules i'm obligated to follow? and Is there a way I can legally sell sticker i make using someone elses image? Thx 4 the help

In a word no, you cant use someone else's trademark brand/logo or copyrighted image on a sticker you will sell. You need permisison from them to do so.

alhright thats what I thought. So what do you think is the best way to ask permission. Perhaps I could become an affiliate and work for them?

Is there anyway around this? Maybe If I was to modify the image into somthing generic like a poor imatation?

Also, just curious does any1 know the consequences of getting caught copyrighting someones image?

No you cant modify it.

Yes, you can get sued big time.

What sort of brands did you have in mind? You would need to be a professional, established, and well qualified outfit to be associated with and get permission to use a brand on your products. If you're a one man band with a bedroom idea and no money, forget it.

Look... I'm not a one man band, I have 3 other people working with me. We have plenty of money to invest and get started on my idea. We all currently work at Boreal Ski resort in Cali So I was thinkin about how easy it would be to Make and sell stickers for like $1 a piece. I don't expect to get rich doing this. I'm jus looking for creative ways to make a lil extra cash for food and gas. Anyways thx for your input. I think I know what I'm up against, just a few minor road blocks. If I can't find a way, I'll make one

Look - I never said you were, I said if you were.

It puts things into perspective as to what's worth taking on or not.

If you have enough money to create a strong business and get the approval from big brands then that's good. Though I wouldn't call them a few minor road blocks if the brands you want to use are big ones.
