It's been debated for a while now, but Sex domain .xxx given final approval by Icann - BBC News.

What do you think about this? I can see the pros and cons - but ultimately feel it was inevitable that it would be approved and with 110,000 pre-reservations for .xxx domains there is clearly a demand!

Thinking about it with a dads head on, I like it. If the likes of Google ban all sex sites from their index other than those on an xxx domain, it makes internet policing and kiddie filters much easier, and the internet a safer place.

But from a business point of view, it's a toughie. So if you own sex.co.uk or sex.fr what url will you be forced to goto? No doubt sex.com will automatically get sex.xxx but who makes the final decision and enforces the rules?

That can only be a good thing, much easier for policing

another "big brother" type overseer ...... TBH i think the sites that own their names now should be able to keep them, not that i am in the "sex" business but when i decided to move countries i wanted a specific .com with the correct name and it wouldnt have been anygood without the first part also being correct too
