Airport operator BAA has been told by the Competition Commission that it should sell Stansted and either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports.

BAA has mounted a string of legal challenges to try to keep them ever since the commission initially ruled in 2009 that the operator must sell three of its seven UK airports.

It has already sold Gatwick Airport.

I nearly got all patriotic and ready for a flag waving rant when I saw this story, how can they force the British Airports Authority to flog off 3 of its airports?

Then I saw it was owned by Spain

But is it unfair of the Competition Commission making the BAA flog off more airports?

But they're supposed to break up monopolies Steve!

I wish they'd get round to breaking the power of the print and online media moguls though.

It is interesting though, can a business only grow to a certain size?

Could you argue Google is a monopoly and should be broken up? Or is just the UK that doesn't like business to get too big?

If I'm travelling on a plane, will having different airport providers make much of a difference? They will still charge airport taxes, and will B'ham Airport compete with East Midlands?

I may save
