So we finally made it, or at least according to the govt

Excert from the BBC:

The UK economy has come out of recession, after figures showed it had grown by a weaker-than-expected 0.1% in the last three months of 2009.

The economy had previously contracted for six consecutive quarters - the longest period since quarterly figures were first recorded in 1955...

...The UK's had been the last major economy still in recession.

Saw a funny quote on the internet attributed to Harry Truman (US President in the 1940s): "It's a recession when your neighbor loses his job; it's a depression when you lose yours." Thank goodness this mess never turned into a depression. Government definitions aside, doesn't quite feel like we're out of recession- not for us builders anyway.

Lets just hope the UK can now start to make a good come back with employment and Business growth

Thanks,

the whole industry? Got a friend/client doing steel fabrication and erection (hehe) and he is after another van, and 2 more staff.

A lot of his stuff is commercial, but a fair chunk is residential.

I guess a lot will depend on the banking sector getting its act together, and lending for morgages, house extensions and new builds etc. Hopefully things are starting to slowly move in a positive direction.

I think I had a bit of recession with depression but life goes on and I think, whether it is a depression or not, it's largely in the mind - except of course for the physical reality of how it impacts on you.

But when the sun shines, which it did today - brilliant clear blue sky, radiant sunshine and warm air - things look so much better.

And then, you just have to take note of how amazing life is and notice all the opportunities around you .... and you just have to reach for them.
