Fuel Price debate called for, but is Tesla showing us the future?

After a UK e-petition was signed by more than 100,000 people, MP's are now set to debate a motion on whether fuel prices can be cut, as the government is planning to raise fuel duty by another 3p a litre in January

So where are our alternatives other than hybrid vehicles and 1960's milkfloats?

Well it looks like the first generation of ugly short range electric cars is starting to move in the right direction.

Anyone seen these Tesla cars? At last, a car that actually looks like a car, and you would be happy to drive, is fully electric and will give you a range of 300 miles.

Downside is they are ridiculously expensive, but it's a start. Hopefully we will see a flurry of other manufacturers following, and in 5 years it will become more affordable for the average person, with even better technology and maybe more range?

I think I'm finally warming to electric cars, especially if they are going to look like these!

I definitely think Hybrid cars and electical cars are a step forward but you have to ask where will the energy come from? how do you generate the electricity.. It seems very unlikely that there will be enough solar panels and windfarms to power all the cars?
Seems like a long shot to me

What ever happened to that car that ran purely on oxygen?!
