I Like the directory site because it does not ask you to put a cheezy link on your site,, are there any other directories that are the same way. By the way I'm not really a guru in anything so I'm not sure how much help I can give in the forums.

Hi Scott, thanks for the compliment

In the old days, and we were also guilty, everybody did a reciprocal link, I'll give you a link if you give me one kind of thing. Unfortunately, this mentality still exists.

Google woke upto this a longtime ago, and the other search engines followed suit. Reciprocal linking is deemed un-natural linking. Linking is the foundation of the web, and is still a major part of googles algorithm that bases where you will be displayed in the search engine rankings.

If your content/site is deemed to be any good, then the theory is people will naturally link to you.

Obviously there are links that can be bought, ie directories, but the rule of thumb is only link back if you want to, and not because you have to.

I did a blog article a while ago on some of my favourite directories, that my be of use.
As a Business Directory owner, which directories would I list my websites with? The Blog!

Dont worry about not being a guru in anything, very few people are, certainly not me, and I've never met one

Forums are about ideas, questions and different view points. We've all got an opinion, so feel free to air yours

yeah,,I realize that back links are important, but alot of people just exchange links just to exchange links, its like going to a construction site and seeing a link for a cosmetic company,, makes no sense to me. I do not have anything against back linking its just there as to be something in common and it can not make your site look tacky. I'm try to get some links going myself,, just not sure which ones to link to. I'm working really hard on my site and do not want to blow any clients because of cheezy links. Sorry I guess I kind of vented and maybe a useless opinion, I'll check out the link you gave me

thanks
