Just logged into my account this evening and my non www. is not verified any more ,very weird and can't reverify it as the www. is fine... Does it matter to have both done

Thanks,

yup verify both, in Google land, the www and non www are technically 2 different sites.

yeah I thought so..I can't use the same verifications type for both sites and the other methods don't work. I'll have to ask for help to my hosting for this 1

Thanks,

Hi Andy,

As Steve says, you will definitely want to verify both.

Although, it is definitely worth considering specifying a preference in WMT especially if you are building links to just the one canonical domain.

Here's a link that's worth looking at Set your preferred domain (www or non-www) which throws further light on how/why etc;

Cheers,

Darryl..

Hi thanks for reply.After a few attempts and using google search I eventually found out how to use the alternative method of placing the code in the header of my zencart site.

So we all up and running again for now until the next problem.

I have to say since I have done this my errors have dropped to like 1 or 2 a week now which is a heck of a lot better than 20 /30 a week

So hopefully it is sorted

That's good to hear! Have you checked in WMT whether all your pages are indexed now? If that's the case, then I would suggest that this current low error rate is likely to stay.

Cheers,
