Social media is absolutely useful for businesses - it's free marketing. It's also worth nothing that marketing itself is now 50% digital, 50% physical. Social media's a large part of digital marketing - it's going to be even bigger going forward.

Get your point by what you mean by free marketing but it isn't always the case that it is free. you have companies who pay for facebook ads and and other services. Also it cost time if a individual or company decides to do it themselves. But yes when it done right it can pay off and be worthwhile.

Not sure how much big social media will be in future in regards to marketing and digital media. Lets wait and see.
Twitter not for me? 4th April 2012 3:05 PM
Twitter will become increasingly important as an informal press release function - if your business is hosting an upcoming event, launched a new product etc.

The key thing however is to build 'useful' twitter followers who will respond to your posts - this is perhaps the most difficult task

Quite agree.

Web 2.0 websites generally will have a shiny logo that has a gloss effect and most likey a reflection. Also, the site will most likely have rounded corners. There will probably will be gradients used in the design of the layout.

These kinds of websites will have lots of script.aculo.us affects added. These include fades and motions. If you see a moving object and wonder why it isn't Flash, then this is your answer. You will notice that there are lots of smooth moving objects and that there are absolutely no tables or iframes. NONE. Everything will be done with CSS.

Big glossy buttons. Some so glossy that you had to wear your shades Does anyone remember the trend of the one page portfolio website?
Impressive stuff.
Clearly Madonna thinks they're underpaid to quote: "Well, when I am the president, I will first of all take all the money spent on defence and put it into education, so that schoolteachers get paid more money. It's scandalous how low their pay is.

I don't imagine she has too much sway in American politics just yet.

Yep read about that to. Keep in mind she did say she would also get rid of all censorship for music videos (think she may have just said censor as a whole).

If your business is targetted towards the masses there is no guarantee that social media will work for your business but you will have a bigger scope/audience to aim you service/product at. That being said you do need to have a good strategy in place.
The Apprentice - UK Sitcom :) 27th March 2012 11:27 AM
We do like to moan, we can't help it

definitely need a few fat lads and some big girls to keep it believable, unless of course all budding entrepreneurs haven't discovered pizza and beer

Have notice that across the board the woman on this serious look like glamour central (well let's say appealing/attractive to a possible large number of the viewing audience).

Might just be pure coincidence that the women look the way they do on this season of the apprentice?

Steve maybe they're spending too much time focusing on success that they don't want pizza and beer; heathly body, healthy mind as they say

Steve checked out a long time ago. Think its OK for the entertainment value but it greatly depends if they have any good characters on the show. A number of the past contestants seem to go into TV/Presenting work which to be honest some don't exactly seem to be well trained for or have a personality for (just opinion).

Think the US version is still going but also think the ratings number are down considerably but am not 100% sure of either. Caught a bit of the celebrity version of it a few weeks ago late night on BBC. It does seem that the US version of the show has more interesting task and bigger task then the UK version.
