Who will be next? 5th October 2016 3:28 AM

Kenny Baker... died in August...

Whose Kenny Baker I hear you ask?.... Well he played the part of R2D2 in Star Wars and was also in Time Bandits with John Cleese.... Maybe not an A lister but by association with Star Wars and the cult following still after all this time (I saw it when I was 14) he deserves a mention.....

Becoming a Non Smoker 4th October 2016 3:41 PM

Ha ha, costly lesson learned... Truth of the matter was, it was Sunday afternoon and I was desperate to print of some legal documents to post Monday morning. Was after the HP300 ink cartridges that you sell for £17.10, still haven't printed off what I was going to so could have waited...

Brexit rumblings - what do you think? 4th October 2016 12:58 PM

It cannot come soon enough for me, the £ fell yesterday after Mays speech and it will continue to fluctuate up and down until we are finally out and it will continue long after. Have been listening to people all summer going on about what does Brexit mean, and that voters didn't know what they were voting for.... It was all simple enough for me to understand.... We voted out of the EU and to self govern, If businesses wish to move to the EU let them go, but they will still have to trade with the UK regardless. Personally I think the idea of the unelected EU state will now gradually implode...

HS2 4th October 2016 12:36 PM

Other than helping to pay for it via the HMRC it doesn't effect me, can't say getting to Birmingham 15 minutes faster overly excites me either.... Must admit it does seem a bit naff, during my travels across the UK during the summer all I've seen is billboards saying 'say no to HS2' I'm surprised no one has called on the services of good old Swampy to cause mayhem for the contractors....

Becoming a Non Smoker 3rd October 2016 2:50 PM
After I stopped smoking, every McDonald's on the M62 and M1 became my new best friend.

My new goal in life is to lose the extra two stone in weight gain, supplied by McDonalds and encouraged by the lack of smoking... for the last 4.5 years

Can honestly say stopping smoking hasn't bothered me in the slightest, even after 40 odd years of it. Weight gain has probably gone up, but it was going up anyway. But have promised myself a pushbike once I've moved house, not a chance in hell I'll ride one in London... The good thing about the move will be, is that the nearest take a way is around 10 miles and are no home deliveries... which also means no junk mail... I may even take up jogging, as no one will be able to see me in the middle of nowhere....

Oh and funny enough, I was thinking of you yesterday as I was handing over £62.50 to Staples for 2 measly pots of ink....

Product Barcodes 2nd October 2016 8:25 PM

I spent a week trying to get my head around barcodes when I was trying to set up a Amazon shop.  I then paid someone else to try and get their head around it all. Everything we did or tried kept getting rejected by Amazon even when the information was provided directly from the manufacturer it was rejected.... Anyway it worked out by the time Amazon added their fees and charges the product was over priced.... At which time I decided to get my life back and just pulled the plug... But there are websites out there which discuss everything and anything about barcodes... And quite boring they are too... The problem you have is the same as what I had which is where a barcode reflects a manufacturers price rather than the product itself...

Hotel Business Wanted! 30th September 2016 7:22 PM

Be prepared to work long.... very long hours... I think I'd rather buy a field and a bucket, call it a camp site and let the customer get on with it... Whilst charging them for the privilege...

Have very mixed feelings about charities and being charitable. I tend to donate to anything animal or forces related, local cancer campaigns. And tend to avoid anything with a Go Fund Me Page and the guy who spends every evening sitting on the forecourt of the local petrol station asking for spare change, Only to return to reading his book once you've ignored him... I avoid donating to anything African on the basis that this country is rich in resources such as oil and minerals as well as the tourism industry, the rest of the world have been donating to this country my entire life. I also live within a high African community and see them driving around in their new 4 x 4s and BMW's many of them also are multiple property owners over here. So when I see an advert on television asking me to donate 'just £2 a month' so poor Johnny can have clean water to drink.... It kind of gets my back up as to why 'poor Johnny's' fellow countrymen have not sorted this basic problem out themselves after all these years.

We do get sucked into these charitable causes because of the clever marketing and they all end up becoming a never ending cycle. A quick search on Google will tell you that in the UK there are 195,289 registered charities in the UK raising over £80billion per year..... That alone would suggest that the majority of it, is just an industry.

Anything health related in the UK i.e. air ambulances, cancer research should be funded by the NHS via the tax payer. After all anyone of us could although hopefully not require there services one day. I don't think the police helicopter that regularly hovers above my house at 3am in the morning for an hour at a time is funded by charity...

I need a hearing check..... 29th September 2016 7:52 PM

I live in Essex, But I don't come from Essex and there is nothing worse than standing in a supermarket checkout queue and hearing people calling their partners 'babe'.....

The Dark Side of Football 28th September 2016 7:36 PM

Have just been reading about his pay-off £550,000 for 67 days work or £8284.00 per day and he chucked it all away because of greed. He didn't need the money and he'll never need the money. Was listening to James O'brien on LBC radio this morning... I try and avoid him for the first 15minutes of the show as it's just pure waffle and often nauseating. But he made a very good analogy between the likes of a normal working class person and a super wealthy person. As the working class bod will eventually be content with his/her 3 bed house, car and holiday once or twice a year and will be totally happy with their life. Whereas the multi, multi millionaire who has the private holiday island, the private jets, yachts, numerous homes dotted around the world will never have enough.... And when you look at the most wealthiest people on the planet it is so true.

I'm currently working in Buckinghamshire in a empty 20 bed mansion, with 180 acres of gardens a lodge and an empty private cottage, tennis courts and a swimming pool a greenhouse as large as my entire street, orchards and a private woodland. The owner is a racing driver, his wife goes shopping and they have 2 children.......... They've had this particular property for over 5 years and haven't stayed there once.... And yet they are being really fussy over the style of the radiators, they don't want £200 rads, they want £1500.00 rads..... and £200 radiator valves ...
